“Boundaries set, and set well.”
Hesitation and indecision only drain you from the inside. That’s why, when Danielle decided to be ruthless, she never hesitated.
Gian just commented, “That’s true clarity.”
Later that night, after their conversation, Danielle had barely hung up the phone when a message popped up from Harold.
[Had to leave the Davidson family’s anniversary party early for something urgent, didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. Honestly didn’t expect you to be Mrs. Davidson—I never saw that coming.]
Harold sounded genuinely shocked.
Of course he was. Everyone was. The whole social circle was buzzing.
Millie was now officially branded as “the other woman.” She kept insisting over and over that she and Alexander were just like brother and sister, but who would really buy that?
Danielle pressed her lips together, but replied out of basic courtesy. After all, she’d spun a web of half-truths back at the spa.
[Personal reasons kept me from telling you the truth. Sorry about that.]
Harold shot back almost instantly: [No blame at all—just really surprised, that’s all. Get some rest.]
Danielle didn’t reply. She set her phone aside, got ready for bed, and let the whole Davidson mess melt away.
She wasn’t going to lose more sleep over it.
The next day, she and Kirsten packed up for a meeting with one of their partner companies. The Blackwood Research Institute project was still moving forward, but none of Ninesky Technologies’ other projects could afford to fall behind.
Ninesky Technologies had plenty of irons in the fire—the tech department alone was split into several teams. This meeting was with a manufacturing partner. They’d made an appointment in advance and arrived at the company’s downtown office.
They arrived at the event. Kirsten glanced around at the milling crowd. “Well, would you look at that—your ex isn’t glued to her side today.”
He used to show up everywhere with Millie, always a united front. Not seeing him here felt oddly out of place.
“Maybe his dad finally put a leash on him?”
Danielle just shook her head, resigned. If there was one thing she knew about Alexander, it was that nobody could make him do anything he didn’t want to do. If he wasn’t here, it was only because something genuinely important had come up.
They blended into the crowd as Millie took the stage to present her product. Kirsten, ever the people-watcher, scanned the faces in the room.
After a minute, she let out a low chuckle. “Looks like the Davidson anniversary really did a number on her reputation. The only people here today are from tiny companies—no heavyweight investors in sight.”
“There’s that bet in place,” Kirsten added, her eyes lighting up. “I have a feeling we’ll be marching in with a legal team to take over Millie’s company before long.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
