If she had known who Danielle truly was from the start, she would never have treated her that way.
Now, she's busy thinking about how to win her over.
Maybe there’s still a chance for reconciliation.
The old woman cast a sharp glance at Bianca. “Are you interested in the man himself, or just his status?”
“Chasing after the powerful and turning your back on the weak—that’s a habit you ought to break.”
She didn’t spare Bianca a shred of dignity.
Bianca’s face turned sour, her lips pressed into a thin, stubborn line. “I’m only concerned about the next generation’s happiness, that’s all.”
Jake interjected, “Enough. Let’s eat.”
After dinner.
The old woman retired to her room to rest.
Jake called Nathan into the study.
Everyone knew exactly what they’d be discussing this time—even if no one said it out loud.
Danielle lingered beneath the covered walkway, watching rain gather on the horizon.
Twilight crept in, and soon, everything faded into shadow.
“Enjoying the view?”
Alexander’s cool, even voice came from behind.
Danielle’s expression stayed frosty; she had no interest in conversation.
“Niki’s starting first grade soon. Have you decided which school she’ll attend?”
She looked up, her features even colder in the dim light. “How is that any of your business?”
“If you want to remarry, I won’t stand in your way.” Alexander’s tone was disturbingly calm. “But not to Nathan.”
Danielle almost laughed. “We’re already divorced, Alexander. Who I marry is none of your business.”
His face hardened, inch by inch.
He lifted his hand, gripping her chin gently but firmly, forcing her to look up at him, locked in the gaze of those merciless eyes.
“Go to Nathan. Tell him you’ll never marry him. Make it clear there’s no future for the two of you.”
Danielle clenched her fists, her stare turning dark and stormy.
“Such a look,” Alexander sneered. “That’s the only face you ever show me—full of hate, as if I’m always your enemy.”
“You resent me for what I’ve done to you, to our daughter. But just because you’re cozy with Nathan now, who’s to say he’s your salvation? He landed a job at Vanguard Technologies—does that make him a saint? Do you even know what kind of connections he has overseas?”
“Even if you wanted to disappear, your mother and uncle are still here in Northridge. Do you really think you can protect them?”
“There are people out there who want to hurt you. You know exactly how many times you’ve been targeted—remember the attack at the café? The brakes that failed on the mountain road—do you really think that was just a fluke?”
Danielle could hardly breathe.
“The people lurking in the shadows haven’t revealed themselves. If you just run away, what happens to the others? Do you have any idea how tangled Nathan’s world is? You can refuse me if you want—”
He let her go. “But I’ll step aside. And then you can see for yourself what happens next.”

Sooooo complicated sigh* Simply pls thanks....
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
