Danielle looked him in the eye. “If you don’t tell me the truth, how am I supposed to know what kind of mess I’m in?”
“What you call protection isn’t really protection at all. You’re just keeping me in the dark. You’re making me anxious and jumpy, like there’s danger lurking everywhere. I can’t sleep at night. Every day, I feel like someone’s watching me from outside.”
“Is it you? Or is it someone else?”
Alexander’s brow furrowed. “This isn’t something just anyone can investigate.”
“Dani. I’m your father, and I need to talk to you. Please, open the door. Let’s have a real conversation, just you and me.”
Orson Crawford’s voice drifted in from the hallway, all gentle and conciliatory.
Alexander glanced toward the door.
Danielle turned to him. “If I don’t open it, he’ll just keep knocking. Niki’s already asleep in here—I don’t want anyone disturbing her.”
Every time Orson showed up like this, it meant trouble. He was never the type to pay her a visit unless he wanted something.
Alexander’s face remained unreadable; after a moment, he simply turned and sat down on the sofa without saying a word.
Danielle watched him for a second, then went to open the door.
Standing outside wasn’t just Orson—Leanne was with him.
The moment Danielle saw Leanne, she knew exactly why they’d come.
“What do you want?”
“You still haven’t divorced my mother.”
Orson drew in a shaky breath—he sounded desperate. “I know. If you’re willing to forgive Millie and help her, I’ll divorce your mother right away. As for the family business, I won’t fight for a single cent. I’ll walk away with nothing.”
Danielle let out a cold, bitter laugh. Men, she thought—so quick to turn their backs, so ready to sell out everything for their mistress, even the inheritance they’d always coveted.
She met Orson’s eyes, her tone icy. “That business belonged to my mother’s family long before you came along. Even if you took us to court, you wouldn’t get a penny. It’s not yours to bargain with.”
Leanne spoke up, her voice soft and pleading. “Dani, I know Millie did things that hurt you. She may have ruined your marriage, but she never meant to. Be the bigger person. Help her. Tell me what you want, I’ll do my best to give it to you. Just…please.”
“And besides, isn’t it Alexander’s fault? If it weren’t for him, Millie never would’ve ended up like this.”
Alexander sat, quiet and composed, a cup of tea in hand. His voice was cool as ice. “My fault?”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
