Orson’s face twisted, his expression turning downright ugly.
“Aren’t you afraid word will get out? People will say you’re heartless, kicking someone when they’re down.”
Alexander’s voice was cold and steady: “Let them talk. If you can still show your face in Northridge after this, I’ll eat my hat.”
There was only one way to deal with a thug like him—force. Any more words would just be a waste of breath.
Leanne and Orson, still bickering, were hauled away by the men in black suits.
The room quickly fell silent again.
Alexander’s methods were ruthless and efficient—no wasted effort, no unnecessary talk.
What surprised Danielle was that he hadn’t come alone; he’d brought backup, waiting downstairs. Did that mean there was always some hidden danger lurking around him?
Alexander turned to Danielle. “It’s pointless to reason with people who have no shame. Don’t bother.”
He was blunt as ever.
His voice dropped. “I’m staying here tonight. I’ll sleep on the couch.”
He clearly had no intention of leaving.
Danielle frowned.
Just because he’d dealt with her problem didn’t mean he could crash at her place. Their relationship wasn’t nearly that close.
“You’re not welcome here.”
Alexander sat down, unfazed. “You’re free to call the police.”
Danielle’s frown deepened.
“Alexander, are you taking something?” she asked, changing the subject.
“Last time, Miss Rebecca said you should be on medication. Are you sick?”
Alexander glanced up, a slight smirk on his lips. “Didn’t care last time, but now you’re suddenly curious? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Her heart stuttered when she realized it was her father.
Why was he here?
Niki stood rooted to the spot, unsure what to do, tiptoeing uncertainly. After several moments, she slipped into Danielle’s room.
Danielle was a light sleeper; she woke as soon as the door opened and saw her daughter come in.
“What’s wrong?”
“Mom…” Niki hesitated. “Why is he out there—?”
Danielle paused, realizing Alexander hadn’t left.
“Don’t worry about him,” she said, gently ruffling Niki’s hair. “Just think of him as a stranger crashing on the couch.”
Niki bit her lip. “Mom, my head feels fuzzy, and it kind of hurts. I think I might be getting sick.”
She looked at Danielle, eyes wide and pleading. “I just wanted to wash up and get some hot water, but I saw him and didn’t want to wake him up. He’s scary when he’s angry.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
