Danielle had just rounded the corner when she nearly collided with someone.
Bianca stood in front of her, dressed in a deep plum-colored, form-fitting gown, the neckline fastened with a delicate pearl brooch. The proud tilt that usually lifted her chin was gone—today, her posture was subdued, her face paler and more drawn than Danielle remembered.
The loss of their grandmother had shaken the Davidson family to its core, and Bianca wore her grief openly.
She hesitated when she saw Danielle, her steps faltering. It looked as though she wanted to say something, her lips parting, but in the end she only gazed at Danielle, her expression conflicted.
“Dani.” Bianca spoke first, her voice lower and rougher than usual—stripped of its former sharpness.
Danielle was caught off guard.
She and Bianca had never been close. When Danielle dated Alexander, Bianca always made it clear she thought Danielle’s modest background wasn’t good enough for the Davidsons, taking every opportunity, subtle or otherwise, to make her feel unwelcome.
The worst of it had been at a family gathering, when Bianca, in front of everyone, accused Danielle of “scheming to climb the social ladder.” The humiliation had brought Danielle to tears right there and then.
Back then, Bianca was always untouchable, looking down her nose at everyone as if the world were meant to bend to her will.
But the woman standing before Danielle now seemed to have shed all her prickly defenses.
“I...” Bianca’s voice trembled as she spoke, as if she’d summoned all her courage just to get the words out. “I did a lot of things to you in the past that I shouldn’t have.”
She paused, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her tone awkward, almost embarrassed. “I suppose I’m old enough now to apologize.”
Danielle blinked, momentarily speechless.
She had never imagined she’d hear an apology from Bianca.
The truth was, Danielle had always understood that Bianca wasn’t truly malicious. She just cared too much about appearances and status—her pride meant more to her than anything else. If someone could bring her prestige, she’d treat them with warmth; if not, she turned as cold as ice.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
