She crouched down in front of Niki, gently brushing her daughter’s soft hair with her fingertips. “Niki, this is your father’s house. We… might be staying here for a while.”
The cloth doll in Niki’s hands was squished so tightly that it had lost its shape. She tilted her small face upward, her clear eyes brimming with confusion.
Her father’s house? That phrase felt as distant as a castle from a fairy tale.
Her father was that man, always in perfectly pressed suits, his gaze cold and unyielding—the man who made her mother fall silent every time his name came up. The man she’d glimpsed only a handful of times, never daring to actually call him “Dad.” And now, she was standing in front of this beautiful house he owned.
A tiny frown creased her forehead. Inside, one small voice was fluttering with hope, while another shrank back in fear.
Her father never wanted to acknowledge her. At preschool, the other kids had dads who picked them up and dropped them off. She could only watch as her brother was greeted by their father, while she herself remained invisible.
But now, Mom was saying they’d be living at Dad’s house. Did that mean… did that mean Dad was finally willing to accept her?
The thought rooted itself in her heart, a tiny seed beginning to sprout.
Niki pressed her lips together and hugged her doll even tighter. Then she looked up at Danielle and nodded obediently, her voice barely more than a whisper. “Okay.”
Danielle’s heart twisted at her daughter’s quiet, grown-up response, leaving her both achy and tender inside.
She stood up, taking Niki’s hand, and together they stepped through the front door of the villa.
The marble foyer gleamed beneath their feet, reflecting their slender figures and making them seem even smaller.
Alexander was seated on the living room sofa, a thin blanket draped over his shoulders. He’d just come down from upstairs.
Hearing their footsteps, he glanced over. His gaze lingered briefly on Danielle before settling on the little girl by her side.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
