“Your health is another matter entirely. No matter what, nothing is possible without it. You can’t use your own body to make a point.”
Clyde let out a shaky breath, though his gaze remained resolute. “I know my health is important, but I can’t let you get tangled up with him again just because of me.”
He paused, his eyes softening as he looked at Danielle. “Actually, when I drift off, I can vaguely tell he’s come by more than once. Each time he just stands outside the door, never coming in.”
Danielle’s heart clenched, her hand frozen on Clyde’s back.
She’d always assumed Alexander’s help was only behind the scenes. She never imagined he would come to the hospital himself, let alone wait outside her uncle’s room.
All those times she didn’t know about—what was he thinking as he stood outside the door?
Before Danielle could unravel her thoughts, Clyde spoke again, worry etched deep between his brows. “Danielle, listen to your uncle. Don’t get emotionally involved with him again.”
“Business is business, personal is personal. Don’t blur the lines. The only reason he helped me with resources is because you’re my niece. You’re the one who owes him.”
“I know exactly what kind of man Alexander is. He’s not easy to deal with. Tell me the truth: is he using this situation to make things difficult for you?”
Danielle lowered her gaze, her fingers curling slightly.
She thought back carefully on the past few weeks. Alexander had sometimes shown complicated emotions, but he’d never used her uncle’s illness to threaten her, nor asked for anything unreasonable.
All those initial tests, the consultations with specialists, even the rare medications—he’d arranged everything quietly, never once burdening her.
She looked up and met Clyde’s anxious eyes, her voice gentle. “Uncle, he hasn’t made things hard for me.”
“He’s been handling everything behind the scenes so I wouldn’t have to worry.”
Clyde’s frown deepened, obviously unconvinced. “Are you sure? Alexander never does anything that doesn’t benefit him. He must have some motive for helping us.”
“Uncle, I know you’re worried, but I’m not a child anymore. I know right from wrong.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
