Danielle sensed something was off. Instinctively, she glanced toward the entrance—only to meet Alexander’s gaze head-on.
Her heart skipped a beat. The champagne flute in her hand trembled, and she nearly spilled her drink.
Harold followed her line of sight and spotted Alexander. A flicker of surprise crossed his face, barely perceptible before his easy smile returned. He leaned toward Danielle and said, “Your ex-husband’s here. Aren’t you going to say hello?”
The words cut deep.
Before Danielle could answer, Alexander had already started walking toward them, his strides purposeful.
His face was unreadable, but when his eyes fell on Danielle, a complex emotion flashed through them.
“Mr. Davidson.” Harold was the first to greet him, extending a hand with his usual warm smile. “It’s been a while.”
Alexander took his hand, his grip a shade too firm. His voice was neutral, betraying nothing. “Mr. Chapman.”
His gaze shifted past Harold and settled on Danielle. “Chief Engineer Crawford,” he said, his tone low.
Danielle tightened her hold on the folder she was carrying, her fingertips growing cold. She forced a polite smile. “Mr. Davidson, are you here for the summit as well?”
“Yes.”
Alexander’s gaze moved between her and Harold, lingering in the heavy silence that seemed to grip the air. He said nothing further, but the tension was almost palpable.
Others in the room noticed the sudden chill. The quiet hum of conversation died down as people pretended to look elsewhere, though they couldn’t help sneaking glances at the three of them.
Ex-husband and the new partner? Now this was a scene.
Harold looked from Danielle to Alexander, something dawning in his eyes. With a light chuckle, he tried to smooth things over. “It seems Mr. Davidson and Chief Engineer Crawford aren’t quite what they used to be.”
He turned to Danielle. “Shall we go over the details of the Vanguard Technologies partnership one more time?”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
