“From now on, you can throw yourself into your research without having to worry about danger. And Alexander won’t bother you again—whatever excuse he might come up with.”
Leaning on the balcony railing, Danielle suddenly felt tears streaming down her cheeks, utterly without warning.
All these years, she’d poured herself into this project—endured so much hardship, so much humiliation. She’d pushed herself to the limit, all for the sake of giving her daughter a future she could be proud of.
Now the final approval had come through. She no longer had to live in fear, no longer had to brace herself for the next blow. The tension that had weighed on her for so long finally began to lift.
“Thank you, Gian,” she said, clutching her phone tightly. “And thank Mr. Hawthorne for me, too.”
“Come on, you don’t have to thank me,” Gian replied with a laugh. “Hey, when are you leaving? If you need help packing up, just let me know.”
“I haven’t set a date yet. Once I wrap up the contract with Vanguard Technologies, I’ll take Niki and leave Northridge,” Danielle answered, letting out a slow breath. “But at least now I don’t have to worry about our safety. I can finally focus on getting ready to go.”
After hanging up, Danielle remained on the balcony, gazing out at the distant night sky. The darkness was as deep as ever, but inside, she felt a new lightness—like she could finally breathe again.
She knew that soon, she and Niki could live a peaceful, steady life. The past would no longer have any hold over them, and she didn’t have to worry about threats lurking around every corner.
Still, every now and then, her thoughts wandered back to Alexander—
She remembered how he’d waited for her outside the restaurant, the earnest look in his eyes when he’d said, “I just want to protect you and Niki,” and the raw exhaustion that always seemed to linger in his gaze.
She didn’t know what Alexander had gone through all those years ago, or why he’d chosen to keep her at a distance. Maybe she never would.
Perhaps this was the best possible ending.
She and Niki, safe and moving forward. Alexander, returning to his own life. No more crossing paths. No more old wounds reopened.
After all this time, they were back to being strangers.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
