Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 412

Zinnia didn’t reply, but her hands tightened on the wheelchair’s handles.

“Do you remember what I told you when we were trapped under the rubble?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly. In front of her, Landon’s body grew even more rigid. “I said that if we made it out alive, I’d give you another chance. That we could start over.”

She moved around to face him, crouching down and taking his hand in hers. “I’m a woman of my word. Let’s start over.”

Landon’s fist clenched instinctively. A moment later, he pulled his hand away from hers. He avoided her gaze, a bitter smile touching his lips. “Let’s not.”

“Landon…”

“Zinnia,” he interrupted, his eyes still downcast. “I don’t want to hold this over your head. It wouldn’t be fair to you. Even if we got back together, it wouldn’t be for the right reasons.”

“That’s not it, I’m not doing this because—”

“That’s enough, Zinnia.” Landon cut her off again, unable to bear hearing what she might say next. The hand resting on the arm of his wheelchair was shaking. “Let’s just leave it. I heard from Zephyr that you applied for a fellowship in Durmara?”

Zinnia was taken aback. “Yes,” she nodded. “I wanted to…”

“That’s good,” Landon said, his voice trembling. “Go, Zinnia. Don’t waste your time on me.” He turned the wheels, positioning himself so his back was to her. “You should go home. I’m going to sit here for a while longer.”

Zinnia stood there, watching him in silence for a long moment before whispering, “Okay.” She walked around to his side. “I’m leaving now.”
