*Vickle is keeping Amatic and the other two preoccupied at the pack house until we are ready,” I say as I help Rosebud put the finishing touches on the banner for tonight. Rose has paint all over her bands and arms, but she is sporting a huge smile.
“Good, Gretchen and Robert are going to be here shortly to help us finish,” Uncle Will says as he hangs a few streamers.
“Not like that,” I hear Uncle Mike scold Cal in the kitchen,
“Well how should I do it?” Cal growls back.
I shake my head at my twin’s tone.
“Okay, where do you want the cake?” James asks as he and Jimmy come strolling into the house.
“Kitchen for now,” Uncle Will directs.
“Where is Sam and Nick?” Jimmy asks as he looks around at the controlled chaos.
“Sam is still at the pack house, watching over the girls. And Nick is talking with Kayla and her parents about tonight,” I tell him.
“Here, Rosebud,” I say as I take her hand. I paint it blue and then stamp her hand down on the banner.
Rose giggles as she picks up her hand and inspects her handprint. “Uncle Nick comin?” she asks as she looks around the room.
“He’s bringing a friend tonight to introduce her to us,” I tell her.
“Is that smart to bring her here tonight?” James asks as he looks around.
“Nick is adamant about bringing her so she can meet and talk with everyone,” I sigh.
I agree that it is not the best night to bring her. Kayla is sweet but tonight could be overwhelming for her. But Nick is adamant about
bringing her as the future female Delta to share in Ama’s adoption. I also understand him wanting Kayla to feel included in activities with
us,
“We’re here,” Nick says as he and Kayla enter the house.
“Speak of the devil,” James laughs. “Kayla, as beautiful as ever.”
“Thank you, Beta,” she says shyly.
“Kayla,” I smile as I pick up Rose. “Come on Rosebud, let’s get the paint cleaned up. Nick, will you and Kayla hang up the banner?”
“Yes Alpha,” she answers.
“It’s just Mark,” I tell her with a smile. “Here in this home, there are no titles. We are family.”
She nods her head. I can tell she is not fully convinced, but I don’t push it.

Base ignores me and makes grabby hands for the female that she has never met. “She help!” Rose orders again. She looks around and starts to bring out the puppy eyes.
“Okay,” Kayla says slightly nervous as she steps over to me.
“Thank you,” I tell her as i hand over Rosebud. “There is a bathroom down the hall that has her stuff in it.
Kayla takes Rose and nods her head. She walks down the hall to the bathroom.
“She certainly takes after her mother in making people feel welcomed,” Uncle Will laughs as he starts to blow up balloons.
“Banner, in the foyer or here in the dining room?” I ask as Nick picks up the other side.
“How about in here?” James offers.
“Mike, where are we hanging the banner?” Uncle Will calls out to his mate.
“Keep your grubby paws out of the cake,” Uncle Mike orders as he wheels himself into the dining room. “What?” he asks as he looks around.
“Banner,” I say as I shake the paper slightly.
“In here is fine,” he says. He looks around at the streamers that have been hung up. “Ama likes green, we need more green.”
“I’m blowing up green balloons,” Uncle Will says as he shoots a blown–up balloon at his mate.
Uncle Mike cracks a smile as he bats the balloon away. “Good,” he says with a nod before he is wheeling himself back into the kitchen. “I told you to stay out of that!” he shouts.
Cal comes out of the kitchen, grumbling under his breath.
“Finally kicked out of the kitchen?” I tease as Cal grabs a balloon to blow up. We get the banner hung up and I take a step back to inspect
He sends a glare my direction as he blows up the balloon.
“Okay, banner is hung. What’s left?” I ask as I look around.
“Mike needs to finish with dinner, Gretchen and Robert need to arrive and then the girls need to get here,” Uncle Will says as he looks
around.
“We’re here and we brought salad and all the fixins,” Gretchen says as she and her mate enter the house.
“How’s dinner coming along?” I ask Cal.
