To protect what's mine (Amalie) novel Chapter 172

Chapter 172 Calyx

Wake up!Rose shouts as she comes bursting into our room. She successfully wakes the three of us up.

Sleep,Amalie groans as she rolls over and buries her face into my chest.

Wrapping my arms around Amalie, I have to fight off a laugh at how cute she is being.

Rose must not like that answer as she climbs up onto the bed. Fie works!Rose exclaims as she starts to jump. She hops from one open space to the next, avoiding our legs.

Are not for hours,I tell her, trying to get her to settle down.

She freezes in her jumping and stares at me. Now?Rose asks.

Fire works happen at night so we can see them,Markus says with a yawn. We have the cookout though during this afternoon.

We go now?she asks.

Not for a little while, it’s only,I yawn as I check the alarm clock. It’s only six, we have hours.

Come here Rosebud,Markus says as he sits up and snags Rose. He then pulls her down with him.

Rose lets out a laugh as she scurries under the blankets and gets settled in.

Sleep for a little longer and then we’ll go eat breakfast,Amalie says with a yawn as she rolls over. Amalie wraps her arms around Rose and holds her close.

I hungry now,Rose complains as she wiggles out from where she had just been.

But sleep?Amalie asks.

You sleep, I’ll get her fed,I say as I sit up.

Rose lets out a delighted gasp and climbs over to me. She climbs into my arms, and I stand up with my pup. We watch fie works later?Rose asks, wanting to make sure that I have not lied about them.

Yes, Uncle James will set them off when it gets dark,I assure her. She nods her head and cuddles into me as I make my way into the kitchen.

Shouldn’t you both be asleep?Uncle Michael asks as he tends to the stove. I’m surprised that he is up so early on the holiday.

Petal wanted breakfast,I say as I jostle her.

Rose lets out a giggle at the motion. She lays her head on my shoulder. Breakfast?

How about red and blue pancakes?Uncle Michael asks as he flips a blue pancake onto a plate.

Pretty,she says.

I take Rose to the dining room and set her down. I go back to the kitchen and get drinks for us two and Uncle Micheal for when he is. done. Coming back, I set the drinks down before 1 pick up Rose and sit down with her. Uncle William comes in a few minutes later with a mug of coffee and the syrup. He sits down and nutses his mug. Uncle Micheal wheels himself into the room with plates and the pancakes, The four of us start breakfast.

Amalie and Markus join us as we start to finish eating. Amalie nibbles on a pancake. She hasn’t been eating much. Morning sickness has been rough on her. Amalie is more than ready to be past the morning sickness. According to Uncle William, she should be past it in the next week at the latest.

She has not been eating enough. Markus and I have been worried about her. We’ve been trying to get her to eat more, but she has been refusing.

As she tries to keep her breakfast down, Uncle William comes back with a mug. Here, that will help with the nausea,he tells her as he sets down the mug.

Amalie nods her head as she takes a sip. She has been lucky enough that the worst effects are just in the morning. If she eats too much, she starts to feel nauseous at other times. But for the most part she has been able to keep her food down if she eats later in the day.

What time do we have to be at the pack house?Amalie asks.

Not for a few hours,Markus tells her. Go lay back down.

Amalie nods her head and heads back to our room.

Mommy okay?Rose asks as she watches Amalie leave.

She will be,I assure Rose.

Come on Rosebud, let’s head to the pack house. James is probably already there and messing with the fireworks or driving Michelle nuts,Markus laughs as he scoops Rose from my lap. He heads for the door, successfully distracting our daughter.

Do you need any help?I ask as I stand up. I look quickly at the doorway that Amalie had went through.

Go check on Ama,Uncle William says, dismissing me.

I nod my head and walk back to our room. When I get there, the bed is empty. I go to the bathroom to investigate. Amalie is curled up on the floor, holding her stomach. Love?I ask gently.

I’m alright, she moans as she sits up from the floor.
