Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 108

She remembered the words he had just said and what Verena had mentioned.

To be honest, every aspect of Enoch was undeniably appealing, whether it was his competence, status, or even his protective nature. It was hard not to be moved.

But…

Deep down, she knew all too well the vast chasm that lay between them.

After he’s recovered from his leg injury, he’ll be destined to resume his lofty place in society.

While she would remain the humble version of herself, haunted by a past too painful to revisit.

After finishing his drink, Enoch glanced at Drusilla, noticing her quiet demeanor and seemingly upset expression.

“What’s wrong? Did someone give you a hard time?” Enoch asked.

Drusilla was surprised by his question, “No, not at all.”

Who could possibly bully her?

Seeing her feign indifference, Enoch frowned. She had a habit of keeping things bottled up, even including her feelings for him. So making further inquiries was pointless.

Just then, Verena returned, sitting down with a smirk that seemed to challenge Enoch directly.

Instantly, Enoch ‘understood’—it must be this Ms. Garner who had stirred up trouble earlier.

He put down his utensils and told Drusilla, “Enjoy your meal. I’m done. Oberon, could you help me back to my room?”

Oberon approached, assisting Enoch in leaving the dining room.

With Enoch gone, Drusilla continued eating, while Blythe chatted with Verena about Colton and Cormac, genuinely fond of the two boys.

Despite Enoch’s remarks possibly upsetting Verena, Blythe hoped her sincerity would win her over.

She said, “Ms. Garner, could you reconsider our earlier discussion?”
