Verena paused for a moment and said, “Nothing really.”
She just couldn’t hold back and ended up chatting a bit too much with Drusilla. Had he figured out her connection with Drusilla?
Verena felt a bit guilty.
Enoch said sternly, “Drusilla is my wife. True, her past might not be all that glamorous, and it doesn’t sound very flattering. But Ms. Garner, let me warn you, no matter what your intentions are in coming to the Taylor family, if you dare to spout nonsense in front of her again and say things that upset her, watch out. You won’t know what hit you.”
Remembering how upset she had looked earlier, Enoch frowned, feeling it was all Verena’s fault.
After all, there were some women who not only aimed to be the other woman but also enjoyed stirring trouble by making snide remarks to his wife.
Moreover, Drusilla loved him so much; she was bound to be affected. Perhaps, she even thought he would leave her because of the kids!
Such a naive woman… why she’s believing every little divisive word she heard?
Hearing Enoch’s words, Verena was also surprised.
She had been worried that he had found out about her relationship with Drusilla, but now it seemed… Enoch was actually concerned for Drusilla?
Did he think she had gone to bully Drusilla?
Verena laughed a bit, “Didn’t see that one coming, Mr. Taylor. You really do care about your wife. So, tell me, what’s so great about her that I can’t match up to?”
“And you think you stand a chance?” Enoch looked at Verena dismissively and said, “Anyway, I don’t need to explain myself to someone like you. You’re a guest of my mother’s, so I’ll let it slide this time. But next time, I won’t be so polite.”
Verena bit her lip as she looked at him, but inside she was quite pleased. It seemed Drusilla’s days of misfortune were coming to an end!
Originally, she hadn’t wanted to push for a paternity test, but now Verena felt it was necessary after all.
