But she should still have feelings for him, right?
She used to be so crazy about him.
How could she ever think he is less than Enoch, with his disabilities?
With a defiant mindset, Harlan spoke up, "Drusilla, can we go back to how things were?"
He always had this air of superiority around her. In particular, after their divorce, his career took off even more. And that boosted his sense of pride.
But now, he was lowering himself and practically using a pleading tone.
Drusilla was about to counter his infuriating remarks when she was caught off guard by his request. She looked at Harlan, noticing his serious expression, and realized that he wasn't joking.
"Have you… lost your mind?" she retorted.
Harlan had his gaze on her. He took a deep breath and said, "You are going after the Taylors and cozying up to Enoch all just to get under my skin, right? Fine, you've succeeded. I can't stand seeing you with him! So, can you stop now?"
"Get under your skin?" Drusilla replied. "You think I went after the Taylors just to irk you? What's in it for me? Does annoying you make me get the house? Does it mean the kids no longer need to eat?"
Hearing her, Harlan frowned and said, "Is it just about the house? I'll give it to you! I said I would! And I can take care of the kids too! Just leave Enoch, and we can talk about anything."
"You'd take care of the kids?" Drusilla was surprised.
He had despised those kids, even going as far as divorcing her to avoid having them around, and now he was offering to take them in!
