Wendell stood on the side, grinning like he was the cat that got the cream, clearly proud of his latest prank.
Others would mistake him for a mischievous little tyke straight out of kindergarten if it wasn't for his white hair.
When Harlan spotted Enoch, he greeted, “Uncle.”
Lilith chimed in, “Uncle, what brings you here?”
Oberon courteously added, “Miss Lilith, Mr. Harlan.”
His glance shifted to Harlan, recalling the previous evening when he had seen Harlan seeking out Drusilla.
Now, with Drusilla in sight, Harlan’s mood visibly darkened.
Why was Drusilla here, of all places? Wasn’t she just an acupuncturist? What business did she have at the hospital after visiting the Taylor family to treat Enoch with her acupuncture?
Upon seeing Enoch, Lilith couldn’t help but complain, “Uncle, look at what Great-Grandpa has done to us!”
Then, turning to Harlan, she advised, “Honey, you should go wash up.”
Harlan grabbed a napkin, wiping off the water splashed on him, his face clouded with irritation, “I’m fine.”
There wasn’t much he could do in a hospital without a change of clothes, so wiping off was the only option for now.
Catching a glimpse of Wendell, Enoch asked, “Has he eaten yet?”
Lilith replied, “I tried to feed him, but he refused and ended up making a mess of me and Harlan.”
Lilith was visibly frustrated.
Enoch frowned at Wendell’s stubbornness. Having grown up under his grandfather’s wing, he shared a special bond with him. His grandfather’s health had worsened after Enoch’s own troubles and Odette’s disappearance - a double blow to the old man.
That was why Enoch was adamant about finding Odette. He wouldn’t let her off the hook that easily!
