Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 28

"I first met him when I was just a kid, so yeah, I've seen him before. But I totally forgot about it until I saw him again."

The thought of Wendell getting sick because of something Odette did made Drusilla feel guilt wash over her.

She said to Enoch, "I'm really sorry about the whole Odette situation."

When Enoch heard her apology, he gave her a look. For some reason, she seemed more agreeable to him than Odette ever did.

"Did you say my granddad visited your place?"

Drusilla nodded. "Yeah, when I was little. Just the one time. But he did mention back then that I should marry his grandson. If everything had gone as planned, he must've been talking about you."

Hearing her story, Enoch said, "So, my granddad initially wanted you for me. But… you agreed to his proposal, yet ended up marrying someone else?"

His tone was accusatory, as if he was challenging her decision to marry another.

Drusilla responded, "That was ages ago, so who remembers? We lost touch. And marriage is between two people, not something our elders can dictate."

Enoch had agreed to Odette as his fiancée mainly because of his grandfather's wishes.

Now hearing Drusilla put it that way, he felt somewhat mocked and retorted, "So you went for love, and how did that end? Divorce?"

The mention of her divorce stiffened Drusilla, ruining her previously good mood. Biting her lip, she looked away. "Yeah! I was blind."

She had thought she found love with Harlan when she married him.

Sitting quietly, Drusilla felt an overwhelming urge to cry.

Enoch, noticing her distress, awkwardly offered her a tissue, "Stop crying, it’s on me. I shouldn't have brought it up. Divorce isn’t the end of the world. You'll find someone better."
