Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 78

"Going somewhere?" Wendell glanced at Drusilla with a playful smirk. "Thought you said you'd hang with me for a game night. Or is it baby-making time with Enoch again?"

Drusilla could only wipe the sweat from her brow, a silent testament to her discomfort.

"It's Enoch's dad. He asked for me, so I should check it out," Drusilla explained, trying to keep the conversation light.

"Oh, him," Wendell replied, his interest clearly elsewhere. "Well, go ahead then."

Descending the stairs with Cybele, Drusilla asked, "Why does Enoch's dad want to see me?"

"Not sure," Cybele responded, "but Ms. Larkin and Mr. Stanton are there too."

At the mention of those names, Drusilla had a hunch about what this could be about.

Before she could dwell on it further, they had reached the dining room.

Enoch's father, a spitting image of Enoch with his glasses and stern look, was already there.

Lilith and Harlan watched Drusilla enter, Harlan's face twisted in anticipation of some drama. Ever since Drusilla left her job to focus on their former family, she hadn't had much exposure to the world outside. Harlan was almost gleeful at the thought of her stumbling over her words in front of someone as important as Baxter.

Ignoring Harlan's malicious anticipation, Drusilla approached Baxter, greeting him with, "Good evening, Mr. Taylor."

She had wanted to say "Baxter" but thought better of it.

Baxter looked up, slightly taken aback by the term "Mr. Taylor." His son's wife calling him that? It was amusing, if not a bit improper.
