She pushed past him, determined to make her way inside. She was nearly late for the acupuncture session for Mr. Taylor!
Harlan watched her stride toward the door, assuming she was on her way to tattle to the Taylor family.
Since marrying Lilith, Harlan knew her grandparents had never been fond of him. Being a man on his second marriage with no significant family background, he worried about the consequences if Drusilla said anything against him.
He sprinted after her, blocking her path. "You're not going in there."
"Let go!"
Harlan grabbed her arm and dragged her outside. "I knew it; you're here because of me! Thinking you could become an acupuncturist for the Taylor family, dream on! Is it the house you want? I'll give it to you! Why must you cling to this nonsense?"
He had to admit, she had some nerve, connecting with the Taylor family despite her amateur status in acupuncture. He couldn't risk letting her be seen by any member of the Taylor family.
Drusilla could hardly believe he would return the house. But she wasn’t here for him.
As Harlan dragged her out, struggling to free herself, a cool voice suddenly said, “Dr. Lawson.”
Drusilla stopped, and Harlan instantly released her grip.
This was the Taylor family’s domain, and he didn’t want to be seen manhandling Drusilla.
Looking up, Drusilla saw Oberon standing there.
Oberon said, "Cybele is tied up and noticed you hadn't arrived. She sent me to check on you. What's happening?"
Given their conversation that morning, Oberon was now eagerly anticipating Drusilla's acupuncture session. So, he had come out to greet her personally.
