Chapter 140
[Uncle picked it out, but he held me so I could break it off.】
[I’m going to sleep now, pretty Auntie. Good night.]
Aveline replied to her, 【Good night, sweet dreams.]
Then, Aveline put down her phone, her gaze turning cold as she glanced at the cherry blossom branch in the antique
vase.
Ha, when Xavier lied, he was a real Oscar–worthy actor, not even blinking.
He was self–aware enough to know that if he had told her he picked it, she definitely wouldn’t have accepted it.
But no matter what, Valentina had picked this branch with her own hands and genuinely wanted to give it to her. She couldn’t just throw it away because Xavier had chosen it.
Aveline finished blow–drying her hair and then got into bed to sleep.
The next morning, Aveline went downstairs to go for a run.
In the living room, Helena was wiping the table and greeted her.
Aveline said good morning back and then went out the door.
The black Bentley was gone from the front yard. It seemed Xavier had either left very early or hadn’t stayed the night at all.
It was the weekend. How could Xavier not be with Josephine instead of spending the night here?
Aveline ran to Oceanfront Boulevard and saw Sebastian already warming up on the sidewalk. She ran over to him.
“Sebastian, I thought you weren’t coming for a run today.”
Sebastian smiled. “I’m not heading back to Kralville until this afternoon, so I definitely have to get my morning exer- cise in. Let’s get started.”
Aveline agreed, and started running with Sebastian.
After running a short distance, Sebastian stopped and looked back.
Aveline was confused and stopped as well. “Sebastian, what’s wrong?”
Sebastian dropped his suspicious expression and smiled. “It’s nothing. I just felt like someone was taking our picture.
“Maybe I’m just being paranoid. Let’s keep running.”

Chapter 140
Aveline chuckled, thinking to herself that important people get photographed often, so they get suspicious at the slightest thing.
Sebastian glanced at Aveline and smiled. “But even if we are being photographed, it’s no big deal. We’re just run- ning.”
Aveline smiled too. “Yeah.”
She didn’t care at all about being photographed running with Sebastian; she had simply brushed it off when Lauren misunderstood and gave her a hard time yesterday.
She was just afraid it would affect Sebastian.
Since Sebastian didn’t care either, what was there for a nobody like her to worry about.
After running for an hour, it was time to head back. Sebastian said, “I have a breakfast meeting with a client in a bit, so I can’t have breakfast with you.”
Aveline smiled, “Sebastian, you’re making me feel awkward. Having breakfast with me isn’t that important.”
“It’s just a shame Fiona still couldn’t get up early to run with us, and then go with me for Seafood Risotto and Crispy Seafood Pancakes. What a pity.”
Sebastian laughed heartily, “That little lazybones. She’s hopeless.”
Laughing and chatting, Aveline and Sebastian waved goodbye where they parted ways and each ran home.
Xavier and Rupert were having breakfast in the dining room. Rupert sized him up.
“You came from Parkview Estates?”
Xavier replied, “Yes.”
“It’s nice of you to come have breakfast with me so early. What’s on your mind?”
Xavier smiled. “I’m usually busy with work and don’t have time to keep you company. I just happened to wake up early today and came over, and you suspect I have an ulterior motive.”
The Patriarch wasn’t buying it. “Then why didn’t you bring Aveline with you?”
