Chapter 157

Xavier smiled. “You haven’t taken a pregnancy test, have you?”
Aveline frowned slightly but didn’t say anything.
“You’re scared of going to the hospital, aren’t you?
Are you worried you’re pregnant, or worried you’re not?”
Aveline knew Xavier was perceptive. After all, without that natural ability, he couldn’t have taken charge of such a large corporation at his young age.
But she hadn’t expected him to be so perceptive about this kind of thing too.
Aveline smiled too. “And you? Are you worried that I’m pregnant, or worried that I’m not?”
Xavier said flatly, “We’ll have to have kids sooner or later. Why would I be worried about you being pregnant?”
Aveline snorted. “We agreed yesterday. You have three days to get the divorce papers ready for me. Let’s just sign them and get divorced.
Stop messing around with all this other stuff.”
With that, she turned to open the other car door to get out.
Xavier said, “Gerald made a mistake with that agreement.”
Aveline couldn’t be bothered with him.
Her heart had already grown cold. What was the point of him saying such inexplicable things?
Asking him what the mistake was would be pointless too.
In the past two years, hadn’t he fooled her and lied to her enough?
She got out of the car and walked off.
Xavier got out after her. “Why are you getting out? Get back in, I’ll take you home.”
Aveline ignored him and started walking back, pulling her phone from her purse to call Julian and ask him for a ride.
Xavier didn’t follow her, and she didn’t look back at him. After walking for a bit, Julian drove up, and she got in his
car.
As soon as she got in, she saw the black Bentley slowly drive past, as if it had been following her the whole time.
Jasmine immediately cursed, “Did that bastard just leave you on the side of the road?”

Aveline said flatly, “I was the one who didn’t want to ride in his car.”
Just as Julian finished turning the car around, the black Bentley drove past them.
He glanced in the rearview mirror. “Aveline, aren’t you feeling sick? Why don’t we go to the hospital first?”
Aveline shook her head. “No, it’s fine. Just pull over when you see a pharmacy or a supermarket, I need to buy some- thing.”
Her phone chimed with a text notification. She took it out and saw it was from Xavier,
[You’d better not take any medication until you’ve confirmed whether you’re pregnant.】
Aveline looked cold and didn’t reply to Xavier, but she sent a text to Fiona,
[Xavier promised me he’d have the agreement ready in three days. You make sure Gerald gets his part done.]
On the way to the construction site, there was a pharmacy, and she went in to buy two boxes of pregnancy tests and a box of stomach medicine.
When she got to the site, she immediately went to the restroom.
The nausea was getting stronger, but she just dry–heaved over the sink, unable to throw anything up.
Jasmine came in with her, and was shocked when she saw her take a pregnancy test out of her purse,
“Aveline, are you pregnant?”
Aveline shook her head, “I don’t know. I’m testing to see.”
“Does Xavier know?”
“He suspects.”
“Damn it, if you’re pregnant, he’ll probably wait for you to have the baby before divorcing you, so he can get cus- tody.”
Aveline didn’t say anything, just took the pregnancy test into a stall.
Jasmine paced nervously outside.
After a few minutes with no sound from the stall, Jasmine asked, “Aveline, what’s the result?”
Aveline stared blankly at the pregnancy test, closed her eyes, and sighed, “Positive.”
Jasmine gasped.
Aveline pressed her lips together and said, “Jasmine, I have another one in my purse. Get it for me, I’m going to test again.”
