Chapter 159
I asked a doctor. These things aren’t always accurate, so it’s best to get checked at a hospital. But since you won’t go, we’ll have to use these for now.”
As he spoke, he closed the door and handed the two boxes of pregnancy tests to Aveline.
Aveline glanced at them but didn’t take them. “There’s no need. I already tested. I’m not pregnant.”
Xavier smiled. “I don’t believe you. Show me.”
Aveline remembered the two tests in her bag, so she walked to the sofa, grabbed her purse, and started searching for the one that showed a negative result.
Since it was her first time using one, she had followed the instructions in the restroom at the construction site. Now, she couldn’t remember which result was negative and which was positive.
Xavier walked over to her. Seeing her rummaging through her purse, he moved closer and glanced down into it.
“Two of them? You tested twice?”

As he said that, he reached right into her purse to grab them.
Aveline was startled and cried out, “What are you doing?”
But Xavier had already pulled out one of the tests. He looked at it and asked, “Does this mean pregnant or not preg- nant?”
Aveline snapped, “Not pregnant.”
Xavier pointed at her purse. “Isn’t there another one in there? Take it out so I can see.”
Aveline clutched her purse tightly and glared at him.
Xavier smiled. “This is strange, you know?”
Aveline said coldly, “Get out.”
But Xavier walked over to the bed and sat down. “Then test again, and I’ll take it to the doctor to check.”
With that, he opened the pregnancy tests he had bought and took out the instructions to read them.
“I’m not taking a test. Get out now.”
Xavier didn’t say anything. He read the instructions, then looked at the pregnancy test in his hand that he had taken from her purse.
His dark eyes were deep and intense as he looked at her. “Aveline, it’s positive. You’re pregnant.”

Chapter 159
288 Vours
Aveline froze, cursing “Damn it” in her head. Just her luck that he’d grabbed the one that showed a positive result.
She pulled another one from her purse. “That one isn’t mine. This one is. It’s negative.”
Xavier took it from her hand, glanced at it, then looked up at her for a moment before smiling. “If it’s not yours, then whose is it?
Whose pregnancy test are you carrying in your purse?”
“Aveline, do I look like an idiot to you?”
Aveline gave a scornful smile, implying that he was indeed an idiot to be so infatuated with a woman like Josephine.
Though he might not understand the meaning of her smile, and could interpret it differently.
But she wasn’t his mother, nor did she want to be the wife who slaved away serving him. She didn’t care if he under- stood or not.
Xavier’s dark eyes narrowed as he stared at her, his handsome face turning cold. “Go take another test.”
Aveline threw her purse onto the sofa, walked to the door with a cold expression, and opened it. “Get out.”
Xavier stood up, walked over to her, and stared her down. He slammed the door shut with one hand, his slightly cold, handsome face closing in on hers.
Aveline frowned slightly, raising a hand to push him away.
But Xavier grabbed her hand and said coolly, “Do you want me to test it for you?”
