Xavier nodded seriously. “True.”
“But I don’t have the heart to do it. You come up with me. Valentina won’t throw a tantrum if she knows it’s you, and besides, I don’t know how to brush a kid’s teeth.”
Aveline said irritably, “Isn’t Helena still here?”
Xavier gave a half–smile. “Are you sure Helena can handle Valentina?”
Just then, maybe because their voices disturbed her, Valentina stirred in Xavier’s arms and whimpered softly.
Aveline glanced at her, her brow furrowing slightly.
Xavier noticed and said with a faint smile, “It’s probably fine if she doesn’t brush for one night. If you don’t want to, then forget it.”
Aveline knew Xavier was using reverse psychology, but she couldn’t bear it when it came to Valentina, so she walked back into the elevator.
Xavier let go of the elevator door, a faint smile playing on his lips as he glanced at Aveline.
Aveline kept her head up with a cold expression, not looking at him, so she didn’t notice.
“Press 18.”
Aveline reached out and slapped the button for the 18th floor.
The elevator went up.
Xavier said, “So loud. You’re going to wake Valentina up.‘
Aveline remained cold and ignored him.
When they reached the 18th floor, Aveline, afraid the doors would close and hit Valentina, proactively held them open for Xavier to exit with the child.
Xavier gave her a faint glance and walked out.
Before Aveline could step out, she heard Josephine’s voice, “Honey… ah… Xav… ah, brother–in–law, you’re back.”
Aveline rarely rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t help it now.
Could Josephine be any more idiotic?
She was trying so hard to be fake, it was like she was afraid people wouldn’t notice she was putting on an act.

And her voice was so loud, she was going to make all the guests on the floor open their doors.
But Aveline knew Xavier definitely wouldn’t see through it.
Xavier replied to Josephine, “Keep it down, Valentina’s asleep.”
Josephine lowered her voice. “Oh, she’s asleep? You carried her back?
That must have been tiring. Let me take her.”
Aveline stepped out of the elevator and saw Josephine reaching for Xavier, trying to take Valentina from him.
Seeing Aveline, Josephine froze for a moment, her eyes narrowing involuntarily.
Aveline could tell she had made Josephine unhappy.
Xavier didn’t let Josephine take Valentina. “No need, she’s quite heavy.”
Heavy?
Wasn’t he just afraid Josephine would wake Valentina up?
As if a grown adult couldn’t carry a five–year–old child?
Aveline walked over coldly.
Josephine reached into Xavier’s coat pocket. “Brother–in–law, let me open the door for you.”
“Huh, no key card. Where did you put it?”
“In this pocket.”
Xavier said, reaching into his other pocket to pull out the key card and give it to Josephine.
Josephine took it and swiped the card at the presidential suite, room 1808.
The door opened, and Xavier walked in, carrying Valentina.
Josephine followed closely behind, not giving Aveline a single glance.
Aveline didn’t think much of it, just found it funny.
In front of Xavier, Josephine was all “sister, sister,” but behind his back, she looked at Aveline like an enemy.
Xavier had just put Valentina on the sofa when she woke up and opened her eyes.
Seeing this, Xavier said gently, “Valentina’s awake. Let’s get up and brush your teeth before going back to sleep.”
Valentina looked at Xavier, then her eyes darted to the other side, searching for Aveline.
Because Josephine was blocking Aveline, Valentina saw Josephine and immediately started screaming,
“I don’t want her! I don’t want Josie! I don’t want her! I want my aunt! I want
