Chapter 242
After all, every time he delivered mail, he placed it on the desk. If Mr. Beltran didn’t open it right away, he would probably put it in a drawer.
“Mr. Beltran, maybe you should check the drawers?”
Xavier stood behind the desk and shot him a cold glance, as if to say he didn’t need to be told.
Claude’s heart skipped a beat. He wondered what kind of letter could make Xavier this angry.
Xavier opened the drawers one by one. There were a few letters from today that he hadn’t gotten around to opening, but none were in an envelope from Beacon.
He tossed them to Claude. “Open them and see.”
Xavier looked at the open drawers, annoyed. He took off his suit jacket, threw it on a chair, then pulled the drawers all the way out and dumped their contents onto the floor.
Claude glanced over once, then didn’t dare to look again, focusing on opening the letters.
Xavier pulled out the last drawer. In his peripheral vision, he saw what looked like a large envelope stuck to the in- side. He looked closer.
He reached in and pulled it out. It was the letter from Beacon.
His face cold, Xavier kicked the desk.
Claude jumped in fright and looked over. “Ah, Mr. Beltran, you found it?”
Xavier said coldly, “Get out.”
Claude quickly turned and left.
Xavier sat down, picked up a letter opener, slit the envelope open, and took out the two thin pages inside.
No wonder it was only two pages. The agreement’s terms were only half a page long.
Aveline didn’t want a single penny, waiving all claims to marital assets.
She had already signed it.
Looking at the date, it had only been a few days since they got their marriage certificate.
Xavier stared at Aveline’s signature for a long moment, then laughed. “Aveline, it’s only been a few days. Are you having fun?”
He threw the agreement on the desk, took his phone out of his suit jacket pocket, and called Aveline.

Chapter 242
Aveline was already asleep by this time. The phone vibrated on her nightstand, but she didn’t notice.
When she didn’t answer after a while, Xavier didn’t hang up right away. He glanced at his watch.
He hung up and, with a grim face, tossed the phone onto the desk.
Then he leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and felt a headache coming on.
Outside the office, Claude had told the other secretaries and assistants to go home and rest. He stayed behind to wait with Mr. Beltran.
The secretary and assistants heard the noise from the office and knew Mr. Beltran was having a tantrum. When the special assistant told them to leave, they were ecstatic, but didn’t let it show.
Afterward, Claude called Gerald.
After a while, Gerald answered the phone. His voice sounded like he had just been woken up, and he started cursing,
“Fuck, Claude, do you have any idea what time it is?
You’d better be sleepwalking.”
“How can you be sleeping?
Let me ask you, what kind of letter did your Beacon send to Mr. Beltran a couple of months ago? He’s about to ex- plode because he can’t find that letter.”
“I’ve never seen him like this before. If it’s not found, I’m seriously afraid he’s going to kill me.”
Gerald woke up. “So, did you find it or not?”
“We found it. I don’t know how, but it had fallen behind the drawer.”
“Damn it, Xavier never saw that agreement.
Then that time he asked me if I was the one who drafted the agreement, which agreement was he asking about?”
“What are you talking about? What agreement?”
