As Josephine listened to Leona, she glanced at Aunt, as if intentionally yet unintentionally.

Rupert ignored Aunt and looked at Leona. “It’s a birthday gift for me, yet you’re the one curious about it. If you want to see it, look at it yourself.”

Leona smiled and took Josephine’s birthday gift from the butler. “Looking at this wrapping, Josie, you really live up to being a director. Such artistic taste.”

“I almost don’t want to unwrap it.

Josephine gave a shy smile.

Of course, Leona still tore off the wrapping paper. After all, how could she see the birthday gift without unwrapping it?

Leona comforted her, “Rupert really does like Alfred’s paintings. You didn’t make a mistake by giving him this one.”

She didn’t ask Josephine if it was really from Bethany’s collection. She figured that even if it was, Bethany was dead, so her belongings naturally went to Jacob, and he could do whatever he wanted with them.

He could give it to whichever daughter he pleased.

Aveline was getting some food. Every now and then, a man would come up to introduce himself.
