Aveline felt that the way Kyle was looking at her was a bit strange. She wasn’t mistaken, it was genuinely strange, because he hadn’t looked at her like that when Fiona first introduced them.
It was a look that made her feel like he had discovered some secret of hers.
Aveline had no intention of starting a new romance anyway, so she didn’t think much of it.
Sebastian couldn’t get away right then, so he said, “I’ll have my driver take you guys home.”
Before Aveline could speak, Xavier said lightly, “Mr. Harmon, am I invisible to you?”
Sebastian smiled faintly. “If Mr. Beltran’s driver is taking Aveline home, then that’s great, of
course.”
Fiona mocked, “Mr. Beltran doesn’t have to force it. If you take this one, you can’t take the other
one.”
As she spoke, she glanced toward the living room.
Josie and Leona were just walking out from there.
They were surrounded by important people, and Aveline was worried that after a few drinks, Fiona would become even more reckless with her words, so she said:
“Sebastian, I have a driver. You don’t need to worry.”
Then, without a glance at Xavier, she said flatly, “And there’s no need to trouble Mr. Beltran
either ”
After that, Aveline said a polite goodbye and left with Jasmine and Julian.
Xavier said a quick word to the distinguished guests and followed Aveline.
Aveline ignored him. There was no way she was getting in his car
Running into Josephine and Leona, Aveline glanced at them from the corner of her eye and walked straight toward the main gate without a proper look.
Josephine looked at Xavier, “Xav…”

Xavier gave a slight nod. “I’ll have Gerald take you home.”
Resigned. Josephine said okay.

Watching Xavier’s retreating figure as he followed Aveline, she shot a hateful glare at Aveline’s
back.
Leona patted Josephine’s shoulder to comfort her. “There’s nothing we can do. The Patriarch ordered it, so Xavier has to take her.”
“Actually, I’m sure Xavier wanted to take you home himself.”
Just then, Gerald walked over and asked, confused, “Where’s Xavier going? Why did he leave with Aveline?”
Josephine’s voice was tinged with grievance. “The Patriarch told him to take my sister home.”
“Oh, so he’s not taking you?”
The moment he said it, Gerald remembered what Xavier had told him in the study earlier.
In front of the Patriarch, even if Xavier wanted to, he couldn’t possibly take Josephine home. He had to avoid suspicion.
So he quickly changed his tune. “It’s fine, I’ll take you home.”
“It’s the Patriarch’s birthday banquet today. Xavier has to consider his feelings. You need to understand him.”
Josephine nodded and forced a smile. “Of course I understand him. I could never blame him.
Leona smiled. “Josie is just so understanding.
You’ve been wronged tonight. I’ll have Xavier make it up to you another day.”
Aveline was heading out while calling Helena, asking her to bring the car to the main gate.
Xavier, who was behind her, heard it and said coolly, “Are you serious?”
Aveline ignored him, walking straight out the main gate with Jasmine and Julian to wait by the
entrance
Xavier’s car was definitely parked in the front yard, so seeing this, he told his driver to bring the car out, and then he walked out.
He stood next to Aveline. “If you do this, the Patriarch will blame me.”
