Chapter 331

“Rebecca said she knew you had bought the jewelry at the time and called to ask you about it.

Claude Steele cursed inwardly, “Shit.” How dare Rebecca tell him she hadn’t said anything.

“Mr. Beltran, Rebecca did call me. She said a jewelry set had been sold by the brand and asked what to do.”

“I told her to just tell Josephine the truth, that Josephine is generous and wouldn’t mind, she would just pick another piece of jewelry.”

“But Rebecca never told me which set it was.”

Xavier gave Claude Steele a cold, hard look, strode to the door, and opened it. “Rebecca, come

in.”

The other secretaries and assistants all looked at Rebecca, because Mr. Beltran’s expression and tone were quite frightening.

As Rebecca got up from her seat, she cursed in her head, “Damn it, don’t tell me Claude Steele didn’t admit it.”

Walking into the office, she tried her best to look calm. “Mr. Beltran?”

Xavier said coldly, “Leo says you didn’t tell him which jewelry set it was, that he didn’t know it was the one he bought.”

Rebecca looked at Claude Steele, thinking, ‘Just as I thought, he doesn’t dare to admit it.’

Claude Steele also looked at Rebecca, his face dark, his expression clearly saying, ‘If you dare to screw me over, don’t blame me for getting rid of you.’

Rebecca turned back to Xavier. “Mr. Beltran, the brand told me Leo bought that set for you. It’s impossible that when I called Leo, I didn’t mention it was the set I had picked for Josephine.”

“At the time I called the brand and then called Leo, Josephine and David Scott were both there, right in your presidential suite.”

Xavier’s face grew even colder. “Are you saying Josephine knows I bought that jewelry set and gave it to Josephine?”

At these words, Claude Steele’s nerves tensed up, and he stared intently at Rebecca.

Rebecca screamed inwardly, I’m screwed.’

Shi and David didn’t know, because she had hidden from them to make the call, and afterward, she didn’t tell them that Mr. Beltran had bought the jewelry set.

“Mr. Beltran, I…”

Rebecca didn’t even know how to defend herself.

Oh my god, Mr. Beltran had just said he would transfer her to Mount Ardwood for a major project, and now not only was that likely down the drain, but she might also get fired.

She didn’t know that Xavier, seeing her struggle to explain, thought she meant that Aveline did indeed know.

Xavier walked a few steps with a dark expression, then kicked the sofa.

Claude Steele and Rebecca jumped in fright.

Xavier turned around, glaring coldly at them. “What the hell am I paying you for? Hiding this from me and not telling me.”

“Is this a small matter?

How many other things like this have you dismissed and hidden from me?”

Claude Steele quickly defended himself, “Mr. Beltran, I really didn’t know. If I had, I would have told you.”

“Rebecca, you made a mistake, so you should admit it. How can you lie?”

Rebecca said defiantly, “Claude, I’m telling the truth.

Claude Steele shook his head in disappointment. “Mr. Beltran, it’s my fault for not managing things well. I’m also responsible…”

Xavier cut Claude Steele off. “That’s enough. This isn’t something punishing you can fix.”

He couldn’t hold it in anymore and cursed, “Damn it.”

Claude Steele and Rebecca’s hearts trembled.

It was extremely rare for Mr. Beltran to swear like that, he had to be absolutely furious.
