Urging Him to Get a Divorce novel Chapter 339

Chapter 339

Navier tossed his phone on the desk and didn’t reply.

He had told Gerald not to invite him to any gathering that included Josephine

Gerald clearly hadn’t taken his words to heart. So, he would give him the cold shoulder, and then he’d get the message.

Aveline had already filed for divorce in court; this wasn’t a game. And Gerald was just making things more complicated for him.

Xavier didn’t reply, so Gerald took it as agreement. He sent him the name of a restaurant, adding that Josephine had picked it.

When it was time to get off work, Xavier walked out of his office.

Chapter 339

He didn’t have a habit of making all the secretaries and assistants in the Executive Office stand to see him off. Usually, only his executive assistant would get up to see if he had any last-minute instructions.

Normally, everyone would just keep their heads down and work. The work wasn’t important; once the CEO left, they could leave too.

But today was different. Claude had been suddenly replaced, and all the secretaries and assistants in the Executive Office knew Mr. Beltran was furious, so everyone was on edge.

Seeing Xavier come out, they all instinctively glanced at his expression, no longer able to focus on their work.

The newly appointed executive assistant, Mason, quickly stood up to walk Xavier to the elevator.

Xavier’s expression was indifferent. After a few steps, he stopped, glanced back at the secretaries and assistants in the Executive Office, and said coolly:

“You don’t need to know what mistake Claude made. You just need to know that as secretaries or assistants, you must report everything to me, big or small. Don’t play games or make decisions for me.”

“And don’t try to be clever and guess my thoughts or preferences if I haven’t stated them clearly.”

“Mason will be the acting executive assistant for now. You’ll all take orders from him.”

After speaking, Xavier turned and left.

When he got into the car in the underground parking garage, Xavier was silent. The driver, Amy, glanced at the rearview mirror, waiting for him to speak.

Xavier paused for a moment, then said, “Back to Winslow Heights.”

A flicker in Amy’s eyes, she replied, “Yes, sir.” and started the car.

But she wondered to herself, didn’t Mr. Beltran ask Helena to make dinner? Why the sudden urge to go to Winslow Heights?

To see Josephine?

When they got to the parking lot at Winslow Heights, Xavier said to Amy, “Wait here, I’m just going upstairs to grab something. I’ll be right down.”

So he was just here to pick something up.

Amy said yes.

Xavier went upstairs, entered the apartment, and walked straight to Aveline’s bedroom, then went into the bathroom.

The bathroom counter was already empty. Aveline had taken all her things.

Xavier looked on, a subtle, empty feeling growing inside him.

He opened the wall cabinet and saw it was filled with a woman’s bottles and jars, along with the exquisitely wrapped gift box from him, still standing inside.

Xavier’s face went cold, unsure whether to believe Aveline had seen it but left it behind, determined to leave him, or that she had never opened the cabinet at all and hadn’t seen the gift.

He had thought that since they had their marriage certificate, even though she still hadn’t been honest about deceiving him, they were a married couple meant to spend their lives together, so he shouldn’t be so cold to her anymore.

So he had carefully chosen a gift, asked the clerk to wrap it nicely, and then placed it here to give her a surprise.

But she either didn’t take it or didn’t see it. Was God Almighty playing a joke on him?

After her mother passed away, she lost the heart to celebrate her birthday. He thought she was observing the traditional mourning period for her mother, and that’s why she didn’t want a lively party.

The day before her birthday this year, she asked him what his plans were for tomorrow. He thought she wanted to have a birthday party, so he asked her why she was asking about his schedule.

She just smiled and said she was just asking.
