A group of a dozen or so people stood in front of the elevators, waiting for one to arrive.

Xavier wanted to go stand next to Aveline, but Julian noticed and quickly got to her side first.

On Aveline’s other side was Jasmine.

Xavier could tell Julian had done it on purpose, and his expression darkened slightly.

But soon, he smiled nonchalantly, as if Julian’s move was just childish.

The elevator doors opened, and Ryan quickly held the “open door” button.

Xavier gestured for Aveline to enter the elevator first. “Aveline, after you.”

Aveline didn’t stand on ceremony with him, pulling Jasmine into the elevator with her.

Of course, she still had to say “thank you” for the others to hear.

Xavier, Julian, Ryan, and Rebecca also stepped into the elevator.

Simon said from outside, “We’ll wait for the next one.”

The elevator went up.

When it reached the 16th floor, the elevator stopped, and Ryan held the “open door” button.

Xavier looked at Aveline. “Get some good rest, Aveline. See you this afternoon.”

She found him so annoying, as if he were possessed by a nagging spirit.

She gave a faint “Mm,” and got out of the elevator with Jasmine and Julian.

Unexpectedly, Rebecca also stepped out of the elevator.

“I’m on the 16th floor too, right in the room across from you, Aveline.”

Aveline was surprised. “You’re staying overnight at Mount Ardwood?”

Rebecca replied, “Yes, Mr. Beltran asked me to follow this project and report its status to him at any time.”

Aveline nodded, not finding it surprising. For such a huge project, Xavier would definitely want to be kept up-to-date on the progress.

When they reached her room, Aveline was about to open the door and go in, but Rebecca walked up beside her.

Aveline turned to look at her, confused.

Rebecca said in a low voice, “Aveline, I heard at the office that Mr. Beltran seems to have a fiancée he’s engaged to.”

Aveline froze, looking at her, momentarily at a loss for words.

Because what Rebecca said seemed to be a warning that Xavier had a fiancée, not that she knew about her relationship with Xavier.

Rebecca gave Aveline a meaningful look. “I’m just giving you a heads-up, nothing more.”

Then she turned and went into the room across the hall.

Jasmine, still standing by the door, heard what Rebecca said to Aveline, walked over to her side, and said with a smile:

“Xavier was so attentive to you at dinner, Rebecca must have thought he was into you. She was probably worried you’d fall for him, so she kindly reminded you that he’s engaged.”

“Actually, Xavier isn’t just engaged, he’s married.”

Aveline shot Jasmine a look. “He’s only being so attentive all of a sudden because he wants me to withdraw the divorce papers.”

With that, she went into her room.

Aveline figured that dealing with Rupert was the hard part, and that’s why Xavier was acting this

way.

He probably wants to stay married to her for at least a year or two, maybe even a few years, and then get a divorce when the time is right.

By then, Rupert wouldn’t object so much.

In the afternoon, Aveline, Jasmine, and Julian walked into the conference room.

Nameplates were already set up on the table, so the three of them sat in their assigned seats.

Xavier, Simon, Mason, and Rebecca walked in together.
