Xavier said flatly, “I ran into him at the Granvia Restaurant last night. He was still there when I left.”
Leona replied, “I went to bed early, so I don’t know if he came home last night.”
“He’d just reek of alcohol anyway. I wouldn’t let him in my bedroom; he’d have to sleep in the guest room.”
“Then he should drink less. It’s bad for his health.”
Leona snapped, “He says he has to drink to get business done.”
Xavier scoffed. “Is he not making enough from the deals the gives him?”
Leona was speechless.
“Alright, I have work to do. You can go now.”
“Take Josie off your blocklist.”
Leona said, then turned to leave.
But as she reached the door, she remembered something and turned back.
“My birthday is still a long way off, why are you giving me a present so early?”
“And you even had it delivered by courier.”
Xavier looked up, his dark eyes fixed on her. “What are you talking about? I didn’t get you a birthday present.”
Leona was stunned. She walked toward him, reaching into her bag to pull out the gift box she had just received.
“Isn’t this from you? There’s a card you wrote. I recognize your handwriting.”
The moment Xavier saw the red velvet box, he knew what was going on, and his face instantly turned ice–cold.
Leona didn’t see Xavier’s expression. She was busy opening the box. “See? If this isn’t your handwriting, whose is it?”
“The earrings are beautiful. I looked up the brand, they’re worth millions, and they’re limited edition. They’ve appreci- ated to ten million now. Why are you suddenly being so nice to me?”
“It’s a shame this style doesn’t suit me. It would suit Josie, though. I’ll give it to her.”
Leona chattered on, taking the card out and placing it on the desk, then admiring the earrings in the box.
Xavier glanced at the two words he had written on the card, “Happy Birthday,” and said:
“This isn’t for you. Your birthday is a long way off. There’s no way I’d give you a present now.”

Chapter 351
As he spoke, he reached out and took the box from Leona’s hand.
Leona was caught off guard, stunned. “Then what’s going on?”
“Did someone steal your stuff and send it to me?”
Xavier said coldly, “This was a birthday present for Aveline. She deliberately had it sent to you to piss me off.”
With that, he put the card and the box into a drawer.
Leona found it hard to believe. “Holy crap, is Aveline messing with me?”
Xavier replied, “She’s not messing with you, she’s messing with me.”

“If you hadn’t brought it here to ask me, I wouldn’t have known, and you would’ve gotten a pair of multi–million dol- lar earrings for free.”
It was a good thing Leona brought it to him. Otherwise, if she had given them to Josephine and Aveline saw it, that would have been a disaster.
“When your birthday comes, I’ll make it up to you. I’m taking these earrings back.”
Leona was furious. “Why are you taking them back? Give them to me. Aveline didn’t want them anyway, she sent
them to me.”
“She might look down on multi–million dollar earrings, but I don’t. I won’t wear them, I’ll give them to Josie.
Xavier said flatly, “That’s enough. Don’t cause trouble for me.”
“Get out. I have to work.”
Leona wasn’t about to give up, but just as she was about to speak, she met Xavier’s cold gaze and immediately backed down.
With a grim look on her face, she left.
Even after Leona left, Xavier’s expression was still cold, furious at what Aveline had done.
