Chapter 368
Xavier was dealing with a backlog of work. When he saw Aveline had texted him, he smiled, but the smile froze when he read the message.
[Are you trying to force me to buy a villa in Garden Estate too?]
Aveline didn’t reply.
Xavier felt helpless and went back to his work.
He wasn’t actually going to buy a villa in that community. He knew that pushing Aveline too hard would be counter- productive.
At noon, he had Ryan order food, and he ate in the office.
In the afternoon, Gerald called. “Bro, come out and play some ball.”
“Working overtime. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”
“Hey, don’t hang up. I really have something to tell you. Actually, Josie has something important to discuss with you.
Let’s have dinner together tonight.”
Xavier’s voice turned cold. “Are you completely ignoring what I said?”
“Okay, okay, no dinner together. Then come to the bar later. Josie really has something urgent to discuss with you, it’s about making a movie.”
Xavier replied, “Have her tell you.”
“No, relaying it like that might not be conveyed properly.”
Xavier scoffed, “Are you a lawyer?
If you have so little confidence in your language skills, you should find a new career.”
“You…”
Xavier didn’t let him finish and hung up.
Half an hour later, Leona called.
Xavier’s face darkened. He was constantly being interrupted, so of course he wasn’t in a good mood.
But he still answered, “What is it?”
“Why so impatient when your sister calls?”

“I’m busy. If you have something to say, say it quickly.”
“You’re back in the country?”
“Yeah.”

“You didn’t even tell me. Come over for dinner tonight. I’ll have your brother–in–law start the Spit–Roasted Whole Lamb right now.”
Xavier said coolly, “Do I really have to go to your place to eat this lamb?”
“Yes, you have to come, because I have something to tell you. Besides, your brother–in–law and Mason miss you.”
“Are you sure your son misses me and isn’t scared of me?”
“It’s settled then. Come over tonight.”
After saying that, Leona hung up before Xavier could reply.
Xavier rubbed the bridge of his nose and went back to work.
At six o’clock, Ryan quietly came in to refill his tea.
Xavier looked up at him, “What time is it?”
“It’s six o’clock, Mr. Beltran.”
Xavier stood up, “Let’s go home then.”
Ryan was happy and quickly took out his phone to tell the driver to get the car ready.
Getting promoted to special assistant was a great thing, but he was busier than before, even having to work overtime with the boss on weekends.
Xavier got into the car in the parking garage, sat in the back, thought for a moment, and said, “Let’s go to Leona’s place.”
Just then, his mother, Lauren, called and asked, “Xavier, a suitcase was delivered. I opened it and saw it was your clothes and things.”
Xavier rubbed his forehead, “Yeah, Aveline had it sent over. I’m going back to the Beltran’s mansion tonight.”
“So, are you and Aveline coming over for dinner?”
“No, Aveline is at her maternal grandparents‘. I’m eating at my big sister’s place.”
“Why would Aveline have your suitcase delivered? It’s strange. Is she…”
Xavier cut her off, “It’s not strange. I’m hanging up.”
Actually, he was thinking that when a couple is fighting and on the verge of divorce, they’ll do all sorts of strange things.
