When it was time for work, Aveline went back to her room.

She opened the door to find it quiet inside, as if Xavier had already left.

She walked further in, only to see Xavier lying on the bed, eyes closed, clearly asleep.

Aveline’s face fell. She walked over, ready to kick the bed, but then pulled her foot back.

If she woke Xavier up, he’d probably cling to her, and she wouldn’t be able to get to work.

So, Aveline took her clothes to the bathroom to change, then grabbed her purse and left.

Jasmine was waiting for her outside. “Is he still in there?” she asked.

Aveline nodded. “Asleep. I really want to kick him.”

Jasmine laughed. “Better not. He’s the big boss, the client. We stand to make a lot of money from that amusement park project.”

Aveline didn’t want to talk about Xavier anymore. “Where’s Julian?” she asked.

“He went ahead to the resort construction site.”

The two of them got into the elevator.

When they got to the small conference room, Simon was already there. Seeing Aveline and Jasmine walk in, he said casually:

“I just ran into Mr. Beltran’s driver, Amy. Didn’t Mr. Beltran go back to the city? Why is he back again?”

Aveline said flatly, “Oh, is that so?”

Simon thought she didn’t know Xavier was back at Mount Ardwood. “I thought you would know.”

Aveline walked towards her seat and replied, “Why would I need to know his whereabouts?”

Because you two are engaged.

Dylan heard this from the doorway of the small conference room. When the conversation inside shifted away from Xavier to concept drawings, he headed for the main conference room.

Once inside, he called Josephine. “Why is Mr. Beltran back at Mount Ardwood?”

Josephine was surprised. “He’s back at Mount Ardwood? You saw him?”

“I didn’t see him, but I heard Director tell Aveline. It seems like Aveline didn’t know Mr. Beltran was back at Mount Ardwood.”

Josephine’s face darkened. She thought, why else would Xavier go to Mount Ardwood if not to see Aveline.

Leona took Bryan to see Rupert and brought up the blood transfusion she gave Xavier again. Will Xavier have a showdown with Aveline?

“Cousin, I told you to cause trouble for Aveline. Why haven’t you done anything?”

Dylan frowned. “How do I cause trouble? I don’t even know how to make trouble for a woman.

“She seems pretty cautious. She carries those blueprints with her everywhere. After all, the conference rooms are usually unlocked, so she’s probably afraid someone will go in and mess with them.”

“Josie, I have a chance to do my own designs now. Maybe Mr. Beltran will take a liking to my work.”

Josephine didn’t understand design, so she just said impatiently, “Well, good luck with that.”

“Keep an eye out and see if Xav went back to Mount Ardwood to talk to Aveline about something.”

“Let me know as soon as you hear anything.”

After hanging up, Josephine paced back and forth in her living room, desperately wanting to call or text Xavier.
