Chapter 403

After that, Xavier didn’t disturb Aveline’s work anymore, sometimes playing on his phone, sometimes looking at her.

When it was time to get off work, Xavier suggested they all go to the private dining room for dinner.

Aveline couldn’t refuse, of course. After all, the whole team was dining together, not just her and him.

This time, however, after entering the private dining room, Aveline deliberately had Rebecca sit next to her, with Jasmine on her other side.

Xavier saw this, smiled, and casually pulled out a chair to sit down.

Dylan quickly went to Xavier’s side, pouring him tea as he said, “Mr. Beltran, you went back to the city last night and came back again today. You must really care about this project.”

Xavier glanced at him, took a sip of tea from his cup, and said flatly, “This is no small project.”

“You didn’t go back to the city for the weekend?”

Dylan was happy that Xavier was willing to talk and said, “No. Mr. Beltran gave me a chance to be creative, so of course, I have to give it my all.”

But Xavier acted as if he hadn’t heard him, saying pointedly, “So you didn’t go back to the city. In that case, who opened the door when Leona brought Bryan to your house?”

Dylan was startled and didn’t know how to respond for a moment.

Last night, Courtney had called him to say Leona was bringing someone to stay the night at his place. He thought it was odd and asked who, but Courtney told him not to ask, that knowing too much wouldn’t be good for him.

So he didn’t ask any more questions and just gave Courtney the entry code to his apartment.

Xavier’s question was so ambiguous that he really didn’t know if he should tell the truth.

Seeing Dylan hesitate, Xavier asked, “What’s wrong?”

Dylan blurted out, “Ah, I don’t know about that, but Josie knows the code to my place. She must

Xavier said coolly, “You two cousins are really close. She can let a stranger stay overnight at your place without even telling you.”

Dylan gave an uneasy laugh. “Yeah, I think of Josie as my own sister.”

Aveline heard their exchange and gave them a detached glance.

After dinner, Aveline and Jasmine left the private dining room first to go for a walk.

Dylan went back to his room and immediately called Josephine, his face grim.

As soon as Josephine answered, he immediately questioned her in a displeased tone, “Let me ask you, did you bring someone to stay over at my place last night?”

Josephine was surprised, “Oh, uh…”

“What ‘oh’? What ‘uh’?”

“Why didn’t you tell me? When I was having dinner with Xavier just now, he suddenly asked me about it, and I had no idea what to say to him.”

Josephine was shocked, “Xav knows I brought someone to your place overnight?”

“He knew I wasn’t back in the city for the weekend. He asked me who opened the door when Leona brought someone named Bryan to my place last night.”

Josephine was terrified, “How could Xav know that Leona took Bryan to your place?”

“I’m the one asking you now, why are you asking me? I don’t know anything.”

Josephine was panicking. She rushed out of her bedroom to find her mother, asking as she went:

“When Xav asked you that, what did you say?”

“I said you have the code to my place.”

“Damn it, cousin, you should have played dumb.”
