[Don’t let me see Leona, Jacob, or that mother–daughter pair that day.
Xavier Don’t worry, honey, I won’t make you angry again.]
Aveline’s face was cold. [Don’t call me that. If you dare call me that on the day, I’ll take my maternal grandparents and leave immediately.]
Xavier was helpless. [Fine, I definitely won’t call you that on the day.]
Not that day, so he can call me whatever he wants.
Aveline: [You can never call me that.]
Xavier pretended he didn’t see the message. [I have a general idea of what your maternal grandparents like to eat, but I’ll send you the menu beforehand for you to make the final decision.]
Aveline didn’t reply, so he took it as a yes.
A little while later, he sent another message. [Good night.]
As expected, Aveline didn’t reply.
Xavier sighed. Winning his wife back was going to be a long road.
The next morning, as soon as he got to the Executive Office, Xavier called Ryan into his office.
As he hung up his suit jacket, he said, “Book a large private dining room at Granvia Restaurant for Saturday night. Have the restaurant send over all their menus for me to look at.”
Ryan said okay.
Xavier sat down and noticed Ryan was still there, looking like he wanted to say something. “Is there something?” he asked.
Ryan gathered his courage and said, “Mr. Beltran, I ran into Leo on my way to work today.”
Xavier said coolly, “Leo?”
Ryan quickly corrected himself, “I mean Claude Steele.”
“And?”

“Claude said the HR department hasn’t assigned him any real work. He’s just being told to do odd jobs all day
”
Xavier said flatly. “Aren’t odd jobs still work?”
Actually, Claude had asked Ryan to talk to Mr. Beltran and see if he could get him a position in the HR department, so he wouldn’t have to do odd jobs anymore.
Ryan remembered that Claude had been pretty good to him in the past, and who knew, maybe one day Mr. Beltran would bring Claude back as his special assistant. It was best not to get on his bad
side.
That’s why he had dared to bring it up with Mr. Beltran.
But seeing Mr. Beltran’s reaction, Ryan didn’t dare to say any more about Claude. “Well, Mr. Beltran. I’ll get back to work then.”
After Ryan left, Xavier thought for a moment, then called the HR department.
“How is Claude doing?”
The head of the HR department wasn’t sure what Mr. Beltran had in mind for Claude, so he could only say cautiously:
“Mr. Beltran, you didn’t specify a position for him, so I didn’t dare to make an immediate arrangement. For now, we just have him helping out with some light tasks.”
“Tell him to come to my office this afternoon.”
“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”
After hanging up, Xavier started reviewing documents.
Amy came in and reported to him, “Mr. Beltran, the hospital director still refuses to see our people. He says he doesn’t want to bring up what happened back then.”
Xavier signed a document, put down his pen, and said calmly, “He won’t say who made him break the rules?”
Amy replied, “He said he seems to remember a doctor telling him your condition was critical, and that’s why he made that decision.”
Xavier sneered, “Seems to remember?
It hasn’t even been that many years, and he’s already forgotten.”
