Claude didn’t know Josephine was lying to him. He thought what she said made sense; he really hadn’t been in Human Resources for long.

He was just too anxious.

Hearing Josephine’s question, he blurted out, “I just came from Mr. Beltran’s office. He was asking strange questions today about the day of his accident.”

Josephine was startled and quickly asked, “That was so long ago. Why is he suddenly asking

about it now?”

“What did he ask?”

“He asked me the same questions he’d asked before, but today he asked a new one.
