“They’re trying to link you with Josephine.”

As he said this, Ryan grumbled to himself, Well, Mr. Beltran, what do you expect after investing a billion in Josephine? It’s only natural that someone with an agenda would twist it, and now everyone online thinks it’s plausible.

Xavier gave Ryan a cold look, “Someone’s intentionally steering this?”

Xavier hung up without another word. After a moment’s thought, he called Rebecca and asked,

“Have you reached Mount Ardwood?”

“Yes, Mr. Beltran.”

“Go find Josephine. See if she’s still at the hotel. When you find her, use your phone to call me. I have something to say to her.”

Rebecca was taken aback. She couldn’t figure out why Mr. Beltran, if he wanted to talk to Josephine, didn’t just call Josephine’s phone. Why go through this whole detour of having Josephine use her phone to call him?

But she didn’t dare to ask and did as she was told.

Little did she know, Xavier was worried about Josephine’s number showing up in his call log. If Aveline were to see it, it would be another complicated situation he couldn’t explain his way out of.

Rebecca saw it was lunchtime and figured Josephine might be in the buffet restaurant. So she headed that way.

Josephine was indeed in the buffet restaurant, getting food with Dylan.

The only reason she was eating here was that Aveline had come out of her room in a wheelchair, pushed by Helena, and had come to dine with Jasmine and Julian.

Josephine handed her plate to Dylan and took the phone. “Hello, Xav.”

Xavier asked coldly, “Did you hire those paid online trolls?”

Josephine’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t hired them; her mother had.
