Simon gave him a deep look. “Let’s go. Mr. Beltran is waiting in the other small conference
room.”
Dylan followed Simon nervously into another conference room, where he saw Xavier sitting in a chair, leaning back with his arms on the armrests, his dark eyes watching him calmly.
“Mr. Beltran.”
Xavier stared at him for two or three seconds before speaking. “Sit.”
Those two or three seconds felt long to Dylan. His heart pounded, and he didn’t understand what Mr. Beltran meant by looking at him like that.
He had a bad feeling. Had Simon said something to Mr. Beltran?
Was Simon on Aveline’s side?
Dylan glanced at Simon and saw that he had already sat down. Seeing him look over, Simon said, “Go on, sit. What are you standing there for?”
Dylan sat down, clenching his hand into a fist under the table to give himself some courage.
No matter what, there was no proof. If Simon insisted he had stolen Aveline’s idea, he could just deny it.
Once Xavier suspected someone, he was naturally sharp enough to notice the slightest changes in
them.
Dylan was very nervous.
Xavier scoffed inwardly.
Daring to steal the lead architect’s idea, wasn’t he supposed to be bold? Why was he so scared now that he was facing him?
Besides, Dylan knew perfectly well that Aveline was his wife, yet he still dared to do this. He didn’t know whether to call him crazy or just plain stupid.
Seeing Xavier just staring at him without saying a word, Dylan felt intimidated and had to speak first. “Mr. Beltran, Mr. Barron said you wanted to talk to me about the concept art.”

Xavier said flatly, “Yes. I’ve seen it. It’s not very good. If I used this design of yours, I’d be throwing billions down the drain. I couldn’t even dream of breaking even.”
Dylan’s heart tightened. Was it really that bad?
He’d incorporated Aveline’s ideas, and he thought it looked great.
“Mr. Beltran, is there something wrong with it?”
Then he looked at Simon. “Mr. Barron, you’re the project director. You tell me, what’s lacking in my concept design?”
Simon didn’t say anything. He just felt that Dylan was speaking out of line. It was completely disrespectful to Mr. Beltran.
Wasn’t this basically telling Mr. Beltran to his face that he wasn’t a professional and didn’t know what he was talking about?
Xavier let out a soft chuckle. “Dylan, when Josephine recommended you, she praised you to the skies. I thought you had some real skill, which is why I let you join the project team.”
“But this design of yours is far worse than the lead architect’s.”
Hearing Xavier mention the lead architect, Dylan’s heart tightened again. He looked at Xavier and saw that his dark eyes were still calm and inscrutable.
Dylan felt as if Xavier’s gaze could see right through his thoughts. He didn’t dare to meet his eyes for too long and quickly looked down.
Did Mr. Beltran’s words mean he had seen Aveline’s concept art?
When did he see it?
Before he saw his, or just now?
He probed, “Mr. Beltran, have you seen Aveline’s concept art?
I thought she wasn’t done with it yet?”
Xavier said flatly, “I have. Yours and hers have quite a few similarities.”
Dylan was waiting for that sentence. His eyes widened immediately. “Quite a few similarities? No way.”
A mocking smile played on Xavier’s lips. “So surprised?
