Aveline, not wanting to look at Xavier, kept her head down, scrolling through her Social Feed on her phone, unaware that he was the one pushing her.

When they reached the door, Helena swiped the key card. The door opened, and Xavier pushed Aveline inside. Only then did she realize he was the one pushing the wheelchair.

Aveline didn’t say anything, but her expression turned cold.

Once inside, Xavier asked, “The couch or the bed?”

Aveline ignored him, trying to push herself up to move to the couch.

Xavier’s dark eyes narrowed. He reached out, scooped her up, and placed her on the couch. “Why do you

have to fight me on everything?”

“You’ll be crying if you fall and make the injury worse.”

Aveline was now on the couch. Coldly, she said, “You can go now.”

Xavier sat down beside her and smiled. “Not even a thank you?”

Aveline ignored him and went back to her phone.

Xavier glanced at her phone and said, “Want to video call Lily? She texted me saying she misses you and asked me to bring her to Mount Ardwood this weekend to play with you.”

“I told her we bought a villa here.”

Aveline said flatly, “Don’t use a child to get close to me. The little girl will be upset after we get divorced.”

Xavier’s face immediately darkened. “You’re always talking about divorce. Don’t you get tired of it?”

Aveline kept her eyes on her phone and replied, “I won’t be tired of it once we’re divorced.”

Xavier stared at her, really wanting to know what was going on inside her head,

He changed the subject. “When do you want to go see those two villas? To figure out how you

want to decorate them.”

Aveline said flatly, “After the divorce, if those two villas are mine, then I’ll think about how to decorate them.”

Xavier laughed in frustration. “Honey, you’re driving me crazy. Divorce is never going to happen in this lifetime.”

Aveline said, “Who knows? If you die, I’ll remarry. And if I’m not happy, I’ll get a divorce.”

Xavier’s smile vanished instantly. His dark eyes were fixed on her, and he said nothing.

After a long moment, she heard Xavier say in a low voice, “Then I’ll just have to live to be a hundred. No one else will ever have you.”

Aveline scoffed. “So childish.”

“Then let’s do something childish.”

As he spoke, Xavier’s face suddenly leaned in. Aveline flinched, pulling back.

Xavier gripped both of her shoulders, then leaned in to kiss her lips.

Aveline was so angry she wanted to slap him, but he had her shoulders pinned, and she couldn’t raise her arms.

She raised her leg to kick him, but Xavier caught the movement out of the corner of his eye. He quickly pressed her leg down with one hand and pulled his upper body away.

“Don’t move around. You hurt your foot, remember?”

“Xavier, you lunatic! Taking advantage of me while my foot is injured, what kind of gentleman are you? Get out!”

Xavier looked at her and suddenly pulled her into his arms. “Aveline, what will it take for you to believe I never did anything to wrong you?”

Aveline said coldly, “You thought I lied to you, that I wasn’t the one who saved you. Isn’t that wronging me?”

Xavier’s body stiffened.

“Hmph, and you still think there’s nothing between you and Josephine? Do you take me for a blind fool who can’t see anything?”
