Chapter 547
Valentina and Mason knew it was time to go, and though a little reluctant, they obediently said goodnight to Collin and Paulina.
Seeing this, Xavier had no choice but to get up and say his goodbyes to the two elders.
Aveline took Valentina and Mason by the hand, walked them out, and helped them into the car.
Xavier stood beside her and said, “Don’t go to Kralville tomorrow, you hear me?”
“Your foot just healed, don’t overdo it.”
Aveline ignored him, not even sparing him a glance, and said coldly, “Get in the car. Valentina is tired.”
Xavier glanced at her, said goodnight, and then got into the car.
Aveline didn’t go back inside until the car had driven out of the yard.
As soon as she was inside, Collin called out to her, “Your phone’s ringing.”
Aveline walked over to look at her phone. It was her grandmother calling again. She calmly rejected the call.
Collin and Paulina noticed. Paulina asked, “Who was that? Jacob?”
Aveline replied, “I blocked his number a long time ago. It was Jacob’s mom.‘
Seeing that Aveline wouldn’t even call Martha ‘Grandma‘ anymore, Collin and Paulina figured the old woman must have wronged her too.
Knowing Martha’s selfish nature, Collin and Paulina weren’t surprised at all.
Collin said, “Whatever you do, be careful. You’re the lead architect for a huge project with the. If that family tries to smear your name, you’ll be in trouble.”
Aveline said calmly, “How could they smear me? Would they dare expose the scandal of Jacob having a mistress and an illegitimate daughter for the past twenty years?”
The two elders said nothing. They figured that as long as the public had a conscience, they would agree Aveline had every reason to resent her heartless father.

The phone kept ringing, as if Martha urgently needed to talk to Aveline. Aveline silenced her phone, placed it on the coffee table, and then took her maternal grandparents upstairs to rest.
Navier had planned to take Mason home first and then Valentina, but Valentina started yawning and dozing off as soon as she got in the car, so Xavier told Amy to drop Valentina off first.
Mason chattered on about how Aveline had been teaching him to draw, and how great he was at
it now.
Xavier saw Valentina had fallen asleep in his arms and turned to tell the boy to be quiet, but when he saw Mason’s excited face, he remembered the kid had been much more behaved recently. He suppressed his annoyance and said gently,
“Valentina’s asleep, Mason. Don’t wake up your sister.”
Mason glanced at Valentina, immediately shut his mouth, and nodded.
Xavier was very pleased. He reached out and patted his head. “Good boy. You’re growing up, becoming more considerate.”
Mason was very happy. “Uncle, does this mean you like me a lot now?”
Xavier: “…”
He nodded.
Mason grinned smugly, thinking to himself that pleasing his uncle was surprisingly simple.
Xavier took Valentina home, then dropped off Mason. When they arrived, Marcus opened the
door.
Marcus invited Xavier in for a bit. Xavier noticed he looked a little strange, as if he had something to say, so he went inside.
Marcus was about to make some tea, but Xavier said, “I’ve been drinking tea all night at Aveline’s maternal grandparents‘ house. I’ll pass.
”
Marcus stopped what he was doing, sat down, and said, “Xavier, why did you tell Leona I was with another woman? I already explained to you the other day, it was a business dinner.”
Xavier asked flatly, “Are you sure there was nothing going on with that woman?”
Marcus said without hesitation, “Absolutely nothing.”
