Chapter 584
“Look, Josephine came with John tonight. Maybe she hugged Xavier earlier because they were arguing.”
“Heh, Xavier wants to dump Josephine, and she’s not taking it well.”
Aveline listened to Fiona, her expression cold as if she didn’t care, but inside she was thinking that it wasn’t surprising at all for Xavier to dump Josephine.
He couldn’t possibly marry the illegitimate daughter of the other woman.
Fiona put her arm around Aveline’s shoulder. “Anyway, at least you got some satisfaction. Josephine’s reputation is ruined now.”
“If the affair between Courtney and your dad gets out, and people online find out Josephine’s mother is the other woman, she’ll be in even bigger trouble.”
“Hmph, she wanted to get famous by clinging to Xavier, but fame isn’t that easy to get. If she’s not careful, she’ll end up with a scandal instead.”
Aveline drank the last of her wine and said flatly, “I can’t be bothered with those two.”
Meanwhile, Josephine had received several business cards throughout the evening. Although she knew these men were only interested in her looks, she had already lost Xavier as her backer, and she had to use this rare opportunity to build connections.
She didn’t know what was happening online, but she noticed many of the female guests were giving her strange looks.
She assumed they were just jealous that the male guests were flocking to her, so she didn’t care about their stares.
She had had a lot to drink, and Josephine knew she couldn’t have any more, or she’d get drunk and embarrass herself at The Blossom Gala.
John offered her another glass of champagne, but she immediately refused and took her phone out of her clutch to check the time.
She then saw her mother had called her several times. Since she hadn’t answered, she had sent a
text.

Josie, what are you doing at that gala? Why are so many pictures of you being posted online?]
[You need to leave that gala right now. You might have been set up.
Josephine was startled. She quickly took her phone to a corner and called her mom.
As soon as Courtney picked up, she immediately scolded her, “Are you drunk? Not answering my calls or texting me back?”
“Mom, what happened? What did you mean about online?”
“Are you drunk? Why are there photos of you getting close with so many men posted online?”
“So many men?
Mom, I only hugged Xav. Someone must have taken a picture. I haven’t done anything with any
other men.
“I saw that picture of you hugging Xavier. The Beltran Group’s PR department probably took it down later, so you can barely find it online now. But the photos of you with other men are still spreading everywhere.”
“Do you have any idea what they’re saying about you online? They’re calling you a social butterfly, a socialite.
You need to leave the gala right now.”
Josephine was shocked, then furious. “Mom, it must have been Aveline. I’m going to confront her and ask why she’s trying to ruin me like this.”
Courtney quickly stopped her. “Are you crazy? If you do that, you’ll only be embarrassing yourself.”
“Listen to me, leave now. We’ll figure out how to deal with this later.”
Josephine always listened to her mom, because she felt her mom was never wrong.
So she hung up, went back to John, and said, “Mr. Vance, it’s getting late. Let’s go back to the hotel.”
John looked at her and smiled. “What’s this, Ms. Sutton? You want to be alone with me?”
Josephine felt sick to her stomach, but she held it in and smiled, “You’re such a kidder, Mr. Vance. I just feel a little drunk and want to go back and rest.”
John stroked his chin, looked her over, and nodded with a smile, “Alright, let’s go back to the
