Xavier replied, “The Patriarch will probably ask Barry to handle this. You keep an eye on him, so he doesn’t screw it up.”
“Okay, Mr. Beltran, I understand.”
After that, Xavier walked out to the balcony with his phone, feeling the breeze as he called Fiona.
Fiona answered quickly, “Mr. Beltran, when is the divorce lawsuit going to start?”
Xavier wasn’t surprised. He said coldly, “Fiona, by the time you get married and then divorced, Aveline and I will still be together.”
Fiona snorted, “Why are you cursing me? I guess I’ll just be single my whole life then.”
Xavier asked her, “Did Aveline give you the analyzed evidence from the security footage?”
“Oh, did you call because you want me to thank you?
Didn’t your ex–wife thank you?”
Xavier looked at the city skyline in the distance, his face cold. “You’re confident you can get Eileen sent to prison, right?”
“If I wasn’t, I’d let Felix handle it.”
Fiona replied, “Mr. Beltran went to so much trouble to get the evidence. How could I not be confident?”
“But, Xavier, you must know Josephine was the one who ordered it, right? Why aren’t you saying Josephine should go to prison too?”
Xavier replied, “Eileen probably won’t rat out Josephine.”
Fiona frowned when she heard that. “Xavier, what does that mean? Are you trying to protect Josephine?”
Xavier said flatly, “I’m not the one protecting her. Someone else will.”
Fiona gave a cold laugh. “Don’t you have the guts to admit you’re the one protecting her?”

“Holy crap, no wonder you were so kind as to give the evidence to Aveline. You just wanted to send Eileen to prison to settle this lawsuit and then protect Josephine.”
“Let me ask you, on the day Aveline was tripped, did you already know Josephine was behind it? Is that why when Aveline said she was tripped, you just wouldn’t believe her?”
Xavier said coolly. “Fiona, you always talk like this. Even Aveline is starting to sound like you.”
“What’s so bad about sounding like me? I don’t think she’s harsh enough. She should be viciously cursing you out, you bastard.”
Xavier replied, “If I really wanted to protect Josephine, I wouldn’t have given the evidence to Aveline.”
“I’m telling you, someone will protect Josephine. She has someone backing her. It’s enough to get Eileen sent to prison. As for Josephine, I’ll deal with her.”
Fiona laughed, “The person backing Josephine is you.”
Xavier said, “You’re a lawyer, don’t get emotional. I’m reminding you now, handle this case properly and get Eileen put away. Don’t screw it up and let her get off.”
“Eileen probably won’t turn on Josephine. You should be prepared for that.”
Fiona said irritably, “Why don’t you tell Aveline this yourself?”
Xavier replied, “I want to tell her, but she won’t listen to me properly. She doesn’t believe anything I say. You’re her lawyer, so you better take this seriously. Listening to me is the right move.”
Fiona snorted coldly, “Aveline doesn’t trust you, and you deserve it. Because you can’t be trusted.”
Xavier frowned slightly, thinking he should still have Felix keep a close eye on this case.
Then he changed the subject, “About the case where Courtney is suing Aveline, I’ve seen the security footage from that day. I also showed it to Noah, and he also thinks we can win this case, because Courtney was indeed too close to Aveline.”
“But, I don’t trust you. If you screw this up and my wife goes to jail, you can forget about being a lawyer for the rest of your life.
Give that case to Noah, or have him work on it with you. You have to listen to him.”
