I looked at Alexander, and a giggle burst out of my mouth as I thought about the absurdity of our situation. I couldn’t believe that had just happened. Despite the anger in his eyes, Alexander’s lips twitched.
Then, I heard the front door open again. Alexander threw his head back and groaned as if he were begging God to give him strength to deal with his annoying sister.
“One more thing, Alex,” she said, rushing back into the room with her hands covering her eyes.
“You can uncover your eyes, Macey,” Alexander said in an exasperated tone.
Her hand slid off of her face, and she smirked. “Well, I had to be safe considering what happened
last time.”
“You mean two minutes ago?” Alexander asked and crossed his arms.
“Details,” Macey waved her hand airily. Then, her smile dropped, and her bright blue eyes became solemn. “I just wanted to remind you that I heard our mom calling this morning repeatedly.” She narrowed her eyes at Alexander. “You need to be more careful.”
Alexander shot me a nervous glance. My interest peaked. What the hell was Macey talking about?
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Alexander murmured in a low voice, and this time, he helped usher his
sister out of the house.
When the door closed behind her again, I let out a sigh of relief and flopped onto the couch, happy that Alexander’s sister was gone. She seemed like a nice person, but I didn’t like that our meeting was sprung up on me like a sneak attack. I had no time to prepare myself or even put on my own clothes.
“Macey is…interesting,” he said as he took a seat beside me and grabbed my hand. His warm palm felt amazing against mine, and I leaned my head on his shoulder. His thumb began to trace soothing circles across the back of my hand. “She’s the baby of the family, and she’s used to getting her way.” He paused and let out a long sigh. “She didn’t finish college, even though she was enrolled for seven years–she has no idea what she wants to do with her life, so she kept switching majors.”
Alexander sighed again, but this time, it was louder. “Macey has never held down a job for more than a few months, just like she can’t stay in one place for more than a few months. I just think

she’s always trying to chase her next thrill. I wish that she could be happy where she was at that moment.”
I nodded. I’ve known some people like Alexander’s sister in my life.
“Last weekend, Macey told me that she was going to Italy to become a professional chef.” He rolled his eyes. “I thought that the house would be empty this weekend.” He pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head. “I’m sorry to put you in that uncomfortable situation. I didn’t mean to.”
I smiled at him and kissed his check. “I know you didn’t. It was just an accident. No big deal.”
Even though I was still embarrassed that his sister had found us making out on the couch, I couldn’t change that past. Besides, this would be a good story to laugh about one day.
Alexander moved his hand to my upper thigh. I gasped as he slowly traveled his warm hand up my leg. I watched with bated breath as he neared the place that my body was begging him to touch me. I squirmed in my seat, needing the sweet relief that only he could give me.
