Chapter 117 That Was Me
Landon suddenly remembered that five years ago, Lucien had abruptly left for abroad. And that was when Alden had gotten engaged to Kaia…
Landon didn’t dare speculate any further.
Landon: [I don’t know anything about it. If you want answers, I can invite him into the chat and you can ask him yourselves.]
A message appeared in the group chat: [Landon invited Lucien to join the group.]
Calvin: [WTF, Landon! What the hell are you doing?]
[Wiley changed the group name to “Is Landon acting normal today?“]
Lucien: [Someone explain this. The group name was “Is Lucien acting normal today?” just now.]
Calvin and Wiley both fell silent.
Landon: [Congrats, Lucien! Happy wedding!]
Calvin and Wiley cursed silently.
This traitor!

They forced out congratulations and sent their wedding wishes.
Then, Lucien shamelessly posted the video of today’s vow ceremony to the group.
Lucien: [Has your wife ever said she’ll always love you?]
Lucien: [My bad, I forgot–everyone else in this group is single.]
As expected, all three of them bailed on the group chat immediately.
Last one out was a sucker.
Lucien clicked his tongue.
These guys really couldn’t handle it.

Kaia had just stepped out of the bathroom when she saw Alyssa’s missed calls.
“Kaia, do you know my uncle got married?” Alyssa hurriedly asked.
Kaia froze and blurted out, “Alyssa, how do you know that?”
She nervously opened Lucien’s Instagram, and sure enough, there it was–he’d been taking photos of their marriage license.

“Uncle Lucien posted on Instagram! You don’t know how over–the–top he is. He posted his marriage license and asked if anyone’s still single!”
Kaia stared blankly at Lucien’s hate–inducing Instagram post.
Alyssa continued when Kaia didn’t respond, “Kaia, are you even listening? This is unbelievable! Has he lost his mind or something?
“And this Instagram post came less than a month after he announced his girlfriend. So Uncle Lucien just had a shotgun wedding!”
Still not hearing Kaia, Alyssa sensed something was wrong. “Kaia, why aren’t you saying anything?”
Kaia struggled to speak, “I… Alyssa, I need to tell you something. That person who got the marriage license with your uncle
Lucien–that was me.”
A loud thud echoed as Alyssa’s phone hit the ground, followed by her shocked scream. The speaker sounded like it was underwater, making garbled noises.
Kaia nervously hung up, worried that Lucien might come looking for her.
Sure enough, when she came out of the bathroom, Lucien was

waiting by the door.
“Everything okay?” he asked quietly.
Kaia shook her head. “I’m fine. Let’s get in the car.”
Kaia’s hands were still shaking as she buckled her seatbelt.
“Lucien, did you just…” Kaia’s face was all twisted up. “Why did you post that on Instagram?”
Lucien’s eyebrow went up. “You saw it?”
“Yeah.” Her voice came out muffled.
“First time getting a marriage license, and it’ll be the last time too. Figured I’d post it. Aren’t you going to post anything?”
Lucien’s clear, deep eyes stared at her without blinking.
Kaia’s cheeks burned, and she immediately shook her head. “I don’t really post on Instagram.”
“Okay then.” Disappointment crept into Lucien’s voice again. He switched his phone to silent mode and whispered, “Let’s go home.”
Meanwhile, the Graves Manor exploded into complete mayhem.
Zane exclaimed, “Dad, did you see Lucien’s Instagram?”

“Allen, Lucien just got a girlfriend not long ago, and now he’s getting married?” Joanne looked worried. “Is someone tricking him into marriage?”
Allen felt mad and happy all at once.
He was pissed that something this big went down without anyone telling the family. They found out right when everyone else did.
But he felt so good that Lucien finally got married. Allen almost started crying.
“Alyssa, what are you spacing out for? Uncle Lucien always spoils you the most. Did you know he was getting married? Have you met his wife?” Joanne asked.
Alyssa immediately shook her head like a bobblehead. “I don’t know anything.”
Joanne looked suspicious. “You really don’t know?”
“Aunt Joanne, I really don’t know!”
The more guilty Alyssa felt, the louder she got.
What else could she say? That her best friend, who was also Alden’s ex–girlfriend, had become Lucien’s wife?

When Alden and Luna returned from their wedding photo shoot, they found the house buzzing with unusual activity.
Alden spotted Joanne holding Alyssa’s hand, apparently asking her something.
“Mom, Alyssa—you’re home too.”
Alyssa had just destroyed her phone and wasn’t in the best mood. She glanced at the couple with mild irritation, her eyes lingering on Luna’s arm linked through Alden’s. Her mouth twisted slightly.
She started thinking about how Alden would look when he found out Kaia was getting married–and to Lucien of all people. That thought made her feel way better, almost forgot about her busted phone.
Alyssa’s eyes got all excited when she asked, “So like, it’s not a huge deal, but did you hear Uncle Lucien got married?”
