“Dad, everything’s been arranged overseas. Let’s send Luna off today,” Lucien said to Allen.

Luna sat frozen on the couch, her face dark with fury, as if the blood beneath it was about to boil through.

It was only the fourth day after the wedding, and Lucien was already giving the order to throw her out.

From his perspective, he had been generous. If it weren’t for more pressing matters, she would’ve been gone on the wedding day itself.

Alden glanced at Luna’s fragile, pitiful expression and hesitated. “Uncle Lucien, maybe we can wait until the end of the month?”

Lucien shot him a cold, sidelong glance. “Unless you want to leave with her? If you did, I’m sure Luna would be thrilled.”

Zane and Joanne’s expressions shifted instantly.

They knew Lucien’s resentment toward Alden had only deepened since Kaia came into the picture,

Joanne forced herself to stay calm. “Lucien, Luna will leave tonight. I’ll take her to the airport myself.”

Lucien gave a small nod. That, at last, was acceptable.

Allen rolled his eyes. “Fine, go on. Next time, bring Kaia back with you. I still don’t believe your fish could be that good.”

Lucien smirked. “My wife says she loves the way I make it. Says no one else’s tastes the same. See you.”

And with that final display of affection, he walked out without looking back.

Alden sat there, silently stewing.

If he hadn’t lost his mind back then… if they’d signed the marriage license… would he be the one Kaia was in love with

now?

Beside him, Luna tugged gently at his sleeve, snapping him out of it. “Alden, you’ll come with me to the airport tonight, right?”

“Yeah,” he replied absently.

Luna’s heart sank again. What was even the point of this marriage?

Kaia sat down without flinching, took the coffee Sue brought over, sipped it, and calmly set the cup down. “I’m not trying to make a point, Dad.”

“Then why didn’t you bring Lucien today?”

She smiled, slow and sharp. “Because I know exactly why you wanted him here. You’re trying to cozy up to him. Domley Tech is on the edge of collapse, and you’re looking for a new investor.
