Kaia smirked and typed back.

Thirty minutes later, Kaia walked into Éclat Atelier.

Kaia couldn’t help but laugh, “I’ve been busy lately. Didn’t mean to neglect you.”

Kaia lay down as the esthetician gently began removing her makeup.

“Ms. Domont, your skin is just as radiant as ever,” the woman said warmly.

It wasn’t even flattery. Her skin really did look flawless, the kind of smooth that didn’t seem real.

If the esthetician were Kaia, she probably wouldn’t bother coming to the spa at all.

Kaia was used to the compliments. “Just give me a basic hydration treatment today.”

Alyssa let out a dramatic sigh. “If I had your skin, I’d never

worry about the sun again. One day in the sun and my skin’s a total mess.”

Once the masks were on, the two women started chatting.

Kaia let out a quiet laugh. “I know. I ran into her earlier. She was very eager to share the news.”

“What?” Alyssa shot up, sending the sheet mask sliding slightly off her face. “Luna actually had the nerve to brag to your face?”

She practically seethed. “Unbelievable.”

“It’s fine,” Kaia said calmly. “You don’t have to be mad on my behalf. I’ve moved on. Whether they get married or not, it has nothing to do with me.”

Alyssa grumbled, “Fine. But Alden doesn’t deserve you. Let them rot together. One’s a snake, the other’s a leech. Karma’s got their address. Still, I heard from my mom that it was Uncle Lucien…”

Before Alyssa could finish, her phone started ringing.

Kaia felt a slight jolt in her chest.

Lucien? What did he say to Sir Graves? Was it about… me?

Landon lifted his eyes and glanced at Lucien, who was lounging on the couch next to him.

“Then bring her along. I’m serious, Alyssa. If you skip out today, don’t expect me to treat you next time.”

Alyssa covered the phone and turned to Kaia. “Feel like sushi tonight?”

Kaia wanted to say no. She knew exactly who Landon was. He’d been the doctor Lucien brought her to see a few times.

But Alyssa didn’t wait for an answer. “We’re in! Send me the location.”

Alyssa and Landon had been frenemies for years. Kaia didn’t bother arguing. She just smiled and went along with it.

Back on the other side of town, Landon waved his phone smugly. “Well, Lucien, I’m heading out.”

Lucien’s expression remained unreadable as he looked up. “Wait. I’ll go with you.”

Landon snorted, “Didn’t you just say you had plans tonight? What, suddenly your schedule’s clear now that she’s going?”

Lucien didn’t take the bait.

Landon was getting more curious by the second. “Come on, man. Just tell me straight. That whole Kimberly scandal blowing up? Was that you? Did you do it for Kaia?”

Lucien’s voice was cool, even dangerous. “Partly for Kaia, sure. But more importantly, Kimberly crossed me.”

She thought she could fuck her way into his bed?

He was genuinely looking forward to Alden’s reaction once he found out Lucien had his eyes on his ex.
