Theodore stood by the staircase, laptop bag in hand, and could only watch helplessly as Troy swept Teresa into his arms and carried her

away.

?

The words of reproach he wanted to say just got stuck in his throat as soon as he saw how embarrassed Teresa looked, her face burning red; he could only swallow it back.

As Troy headed downstairs, he bumped into Yvonne, who had just come back.

Even with Teresa in his arms, Troy called out a greeting, Yvonne.

Yvonne froze for a split second when she saw Troy, but quickly composed herself. Once she realized Teresa looked dazed in Troy’s arms, she blurted out, Teresa, what’s wrong?.

Troy strode straight for the door, barely slowing down as he replied, She’s burning up. I’m taking her to the hospital.

Yvonne hadn’t even had time to get her bearings before Troy was already gone, carrying Teresa out of the hall.

Theodore came downstairs at that moment. Spotting Yvonne, he called out urgently, Come on, let’s go see what’s going on with her.”

Right now, nothing, mattered more than making sure Teresa was safe.

As for why Troy was even at the Sullivan Mansionhonestly, that wa

the last thing on anyone’s mind.

It was well past midnight when Teresa groggily opened her eyes, her mind still hazy and disoriented.

Above her was the blindingly white hospital ceiling, and the

scent of disinfectant immediately filled her nose.

She felt a sting on the back of her hand. Turning her head, she noticed she was hooked up to an

IV drip.

Just then, a gentle voice sounded beside her. Teresa, you’re awake?

It was Yvonne.

Teresa turned her head and saw Yvonne sitting at her right, while her own left hand was hooked up to an IV drip.

Teresa tried to speak, her voice barely audible. Yvonne.

Her voice was raspy and weak, and her eyes were rimmed red.

Yvonne leaned over and gently touched Teresa’s forehead to check her temperature, her voice soft and caring. Looks like finally gone. Feeling any better now?

Teresa forced out a small smile at Yvonne. Yeaha bit better.

Once Teresa started to feel more clearheaded, Troy’s voice flashed unexpectedly through her mind.

She was pretty sure she’d seen Troy in her bedroom.

Thinking about Troy, Teresa suddenly blurted out, Yvonne, where’s Troy?

your fever’s

Yvonne was momentarily taken aback when Teresa asked about Troy, but she replied honestly, He’s the one who brought you in. After you finished your tests and got hooked up to the IV, Theodore called him away.”

Teresa suddenly grew anxious. Yvonne, I want to see him

Since Troy was the one who brought her to the hospital, there was no doubt Theodore had already found out he’d been at the Sullivan Mansion.

And with her brother’s temper, he definitely wouldn’t have anything nice to sayhe might even get physical,

Teresa couldn’t help worrying about Troy; that was exactly why she wanted to see him herself.

Yvonne gently wiped the sweat from Teresa’s check and spoke softly, You’re still sick, so try not to push yourself. Just rest for now, okay?

Your brother isn’t going to start anything with Troy.

Teresa felt awfulher whole body ached, and her throat felt like it had been scraped raw. But after hearing Yvonne’s reassurance, she finally managed to relax a little inside.

Theodore might have a temper, but when it came to Yvonne, he always did as she saidno questions asked.

If Yvonne said he wouldn’t lay a hand on Troy, then that was as good as a guarantee.

As Teresa lay in the hospital bed, her eyes grew red, and out of nowhere, tears began to spill down her face.

Seeing her start to cry, Yvonne’s brows furrowed with worry as she asked, What’s wrong?

As she spoke, she reached out and gently brushed the tears from Teresa’s cheeks.

Teresa’s heart felt heavy and stuffy. She looked over at Yvonne, her voice shaky. Yvonne, II kind of want to go home.”

The events from earlier that day were still weighing on her mind.

Seeing Teresa so down, Yvonne’s heart twisted for her. She gently rubbed Teresa’s cheek and said softly, Hang in there, sweetie. After a couple of days, I’ll take you home myself, okay?

The doctor had just said that Teresa would have to stay in the hospital for a few days. She couldn’t leave until her fever fully subsided and she finished her IV antibiotics.

Teresa didn’t argue with Yvonne. She just nodded obediently and said, Okay, I’ll listen to you.”

Yvonne noticed the dry, chapped skin on Teresa’s lips and smoothed back her hair gently. Just lie down and rest for now. I’ll get you some warm water.

With the change of seasons, Riverdale’s temperature had dropped, and the flu was spreading rapidly all over town.

Teresa, concerned about Yvonne, reminded her, Yvonne, make sure to wear a mask. I don’t want you catching anything from me.

Yvonne replied, Okay, I know. Just rest upI’ll be right back.”

Teresa murmured softly in response and closed her eyes, settling back on the hospital bed.

Her whole body felt heavy and weak, her mind drifting in and out of consciousness.

In a daze, she seemed to dream that Troy was getting punched by Theodore.

When she opened her eyes again, she found herself soaked in sweat.

Just then, footsteps sounded at the door.

Assuming it was Yvonne back again, Teresa didn’t have the strength to turn around. Lying with her back to the door, she called out softly, Yvonne, my brother’s really not going to lay a hand on Troy, is he?

Before she could finish, a low chuckle drifted over, and then Troy’s teasing voice followed, Oh? I didn’t realize you were so worried

about me.

When Teresa realized it was Troy’s voice, she instinctively turned toward him, surprise in her eyes. Troy? Why is it you?

She was sweating all over, her cheeks bright red.

Troy stood by the bed in a dark tracksuit, his hair a mess on top of his head and his eyes crinkling with an easy, faint smile. He had a rare kind of looksso handsome it turned fieads, with features so sharp and welldefined they almost didn’t seem real. Normally, he gave off that bad boy vibe, but the moment he smiled, it all vanished, replaced by a clear, refined charm that was almost gentle.
