Chapter 235
Troy watched as Teresa pulled the blanket over herself.
He knew she wasn’t really trying to sleep; she just simply didn’t want to keep talking to him.
So Troy chose not to expose her little act and just played along.
But as she lay there, Teresa ended up dozing off anyway.
Troy started to feel sleepy too, so he just leaned over and napped by the side of the hospital bed.
After two hours had passed, a sudden, urgent ringtone snapped both Teresa and Troy awake at the same time.
Realizing it was her phone, Teresa fumbled around, reaching for it.
Troy was already holding her phone; as he handed it over, Teresa’s fingers brushed lightly against his skin.
Even that fleeting touch left Troy’s heart all tangled up.
Once Teresa had the phone in her hand, she saw Hector’s name flashing on the screen.
She picked up and greeted softly, “Hi, Hector.”
His tone was full of worry. “One of my colleagues told me you took some time off from work.”

Teresa kept it brief. “I’m just a little under the weather, so I took a break. Really, it’s nothing you need to worry about, Hector.”
Hector still sounded worried. “Where are you? I want to come see you.”
Teresa didn’t want to bother him. “Hector, I’m already feeling a lot better.”
Hector didn’t push her, just asked tentatively, “So, are you still going to Professor Judd’s dinner tomorrow?”
Professor Judd’s dinner had been planned ahead of time, but got delayed since Cedric’s been so busy.
Without even thinking, Teresa replied, “Yeah, I’ll be there.”
Even though she hadn’t gotten into grad school yet, Cedric had given her the courage to take this step.
There was no way Teresa would miss Professor Judd’s dinner, no matter what.
Hearing her say she’d be there, Hector chuckled. “Alright, I’ll swing by to pick you up tomorrow afternoon.”
Teresa nodded. “That’d be great–sorry to trouble you, Hector.”
Hector replied, “It’s no trouble at all. I’m happy to do it for you.”
Teresa paused for a moment, but before she could say anything else, Hector had already hung up.
Maybe he just didn’t want to give her a chance to politely turn him down.
After putting her phone away, Teresa caught the burning look Troy was giving her.
She glanced over at him, a little confused. “What is it?”
Troy narrowed his eyes. “You’re really going to that dinner party tomorrow night?”
Teresa nodded “Yeah.”
Hearing her answer, Troy immediately snapped. “Are you just going to ignore your own health?”
Teresa met his gaze, patiently explaining. Honestly, a couple days of rest and I’ll be fine. It’s nothing serious.”
Troy frowned, anxiety written all over las face. “You really want to go through with having this baby?”
Troy had the whole situation wrong from the very beginning

He just thought she was in the maternity ward either trying to save her pregnancy, or maybe she’d had a miscarriage.
The only reason he even showed up at the hospital was because he just couldn’t stop worrying about her.
But these past couple of days, he hadn’t even bothered to check her medical chart or look at the info posted at the end of her bed.
Now that she said she was still going to that dinner tomorrow, Troy couldn’t help but feel a knot of anxiety forming in his chest.
Teresa caught the seriousness on his face and blurted out, “Troy, I’m not pregnant anymore. Actually–I was, but I lost the baby a long time ago.”
At that. Troy finally breathed out, almost snapping, “Why the hell didn’t you tell me before?”
Teresa fired back, “You never even gave me a chance to say anything.”
Troy paused for a second, then let out a laugh. “Well, that’s a relief. To be honest, I’ve never really wanted to play stepdad anyway.”
Teresa hadn’t expected him to say that. She blinked in surprise, then said, “So, can I go back to sleep now?”
Troy mimicked her with a comeback, “So, after your dinner tomorrow, can you come with me to meet my mom?”
Teresa was caught off guard–she hadn’t expected him to bring that up again.
She blinked in surprise, then got serious. “You obviously have someone else you’d rather introduce to your family. Why are you so set on it being me?”
Troy sat at the edge of the bed, stared straight into her eyes, and said, “You’re the only one I want to bring home. No one else.”
Teresa stared at him, feeling a sudden haze sweep over her heart–she was lost again.
He said those words with such gravity, like he truly meant every single syllable.
But Teresa just stayed silent, not saying a word back.
That night, when Charles finally came back from the neighboring villa to Joyacre Villa, it was already exactly 11 o’clock.
At this hour, Richard was already in bed, fast asleep.
As Charles stepped inside, he was taken aback to spot a shadowy figure sitting on the living room couch.
Looking closer–it was Andrew.
When Andrew heard the footsteps, he swung his head around. The moment he saw it was Charles, a grin finally appeared–one he hadn’t shown in ages.
Andrew jumped to his feet, giving a respectful, “Big Bro, you’re back!”
Charles took one look at him and it was obvious Andrew was here to ask for a favor. He didn’t bother with small talk, just cut straight in, “Alright then, what do you want this time?”
Andrew moved in, gently taking Charles’s arm. “Let’s go upstairs and talk.
Charles understood Andrew didn’t want Richard to overhear, so he silently agreed and went along with him.
Once they reached the study upstairs, Andrew clung to Charles’s hand, looking like he was about to break down in tears. “Big Bro, I need you to help me find someone.”
Charles asked tentatively, “Stella Sandhurst
Andrew nodded hard, almost desperate. “Yeab, her
