Chapter 266
When Teresa arrived at the hospital, Rose Hamilton was lying on the bed, giving herself a little spa time with a beauty mask.
Even in her hospital gown, her beauty was impossible to hide–she still managed to turn heads.

As soon as she heard footsteps, Rose hurriedly ripped off the face mask, not wanting Teresa to catch her mid–beauty routine. She propped herself against the bedrail and turned, her eyes sizing Teresa up.
Seeing Teresa looking so exhausted, Rose couldn’t help but frown in worry. “You’ve gotten thinner, and you seem so run–down.”
Teresa just shook her head, unfazed. “It’s nothing. How have you been? Did you manage to rest well these past couple days?”
Rose smiled, feeling a bit warm inside at Teresa’s concern. “Yeah, I’ve been resting pretty well.”
As she spoke, Rose extended her hand to Teresa and said again, “Come here, let me really take a good look at you.”
Hearing that, Teresa let out a helpless sigh and moved closer.
Rose reached out and gently caressed Teresa’s cheek, then smiled warmly. “You’re wearing such a long face–did something difficult come up?”

Teresa hadn’t expected Rose to bring that up. She was a little surprised, but she nodded anyway. “Yeah.”
There was something genuinely kind and approachable about Rose–completely unlike Roselyn, who always carried an intimidating, stern presence.
At that, Rose’s smile grew even softer. She said to Teresa, “If you don’t mind, would you like to share it with me?”
After hesitating for a moment, Teresa somehow began confiding in Rose before she even realized it.
But right after she finished speaking, Teresa’s heart skipped a beat–‘Did I just let it slip? What if Wendy’s, secret gets out because of me?‘ she thought, a wave of guilt washing over her.
*Before Teresa could spiral any further, Rose flashed her a warm, reassuring smile. “If you don’t mind, would you take me to meet your friend?”
Even with all those worries swirling in her head about Wendy, when Rose brought it up again, Teresa just couldn’t say no.
“If you’re okay with it, I’d be glad to bring you along,” Teresa replied softly.
Rose’s smile widened. “How about we go right now?”
Teresa looked worried. “But Rose, you still need to focus on getting better. You-”
But before Teresa could finish, Rose was already pulling back the covers and reaching for her slippers.
Seeing Teresa still hesitate, Rose sat up straighter and looked at her seriously. “Teresa, if you’re okay, then Troy is okay, and if Troy’s doing well, so am I. Maybe this isn’t what you want to hear, but I’ve never tried to get in the way of anyone Troy cares about. I always show my best side to them. When I see you upset, I can’t just sit by and do nothing. As long as I can help, I want to–even if things don’t work out, I still feel I should try.”
Teresa just stood there, speechless after hearing Rose’s confession.
Rose figured, if Troy was doing well, then Teresa had to be doing well too. That’s just how much she cared.
Isn’t this exactly what a real parent should be like? Teresa couldn’t help but think Roselyn, though she had never thought like that.
Seeing Rose being so gentle Teresa’s eyes turned red before she even realized it. Her voice trembled a little as she said, “Thank you. Aunt Hose
When Rose Caught Teresa tearing up, she reached over to wipe her tears and softly said. “Come on, ict’s go. Helping Wendy Stone is what matters most right now Every minute we wait just gives those bad guys more time to get away with in

his brow.
But in the next moment, his face lit up with a warm smile.
Seeing Troy not budging, Rose playfully complained, “Good dogs don’t block the way! What, you never heard that one?”
Hearing this, Troy finally stepped aside.
Teresa helped Rose as they slowly made their way toward the elevator.
When the elevator doors opened, they all stepped inside together.
Teresa stood next to Rose, but her gaze remained fixed on their reflections on the shiny elevator wall.
In the mirrored surface, Troy was smiling, Rose was too–but Teresa herself was filled with doubt and uncertainty.
Troy had such a wealthy background, and Rose lived among the social elite as well.
But with backgrounds like theirs, how could people like them ever truly accept someone like Teresa?
Before she could dwell on it any longer, the elevator doors opened on the first floor.
As soon as the doors slid open, Teresa spotted Chales and Naomi standing outside, waiting for the elevator.

The two of them stood side by side, hands apart at first, but the moment Naomi saw Teresa, she instinctively slipped her hand into Charles’s.
She was silently staking her claim–letting Teresa know that Charles belonged to her.
Instead of getting mad, Teresa just gave a small, dismissive snort.”
Charles had spotted Teresa too. His gaze fixed on her, brow furrowed, his eyes dark and intense–almost predatory.
She could practically feel his anger radiating, but Teresa deliberately looked away, acting like he didn’t even exist.
Troy noticed Charles staring and, not missing a beat, stepped right in front of Teresa, blocking his view without hesitation.
With Teresa now blocked from sight, Charles shifted his gaze to Troy.
Silently, the two men sized each other up–it was as if they’d already fought a thousand battles like this before.
Charles’s expression was ice–cold, the look in his eyes downright chilling and dangerous.
Troy, meanwhile, flashed a cocky, triumphant grin–blatantly gloating, making no effort to hide just how pleased he was.
Rose immediately sensed the tension and piped up with a deliberately cheerful boast. “Oh, my daughter–in–law is just the best! Even when I’m under the weather, she runs around every day to look after me, and now she wants to take me out for some air. Honestly, I can’t believe my own luck–I’ve hit the jackpot!”
Naomi just rolled her eyes at Rose’s words, her scorn written all over her face.
