Chapter 54
Chapter 54
Teresa glanced at the time, and just then, her browser popped up a trending headline.
[Charles, the CEO of Logan Group, Spends Millions on His Girlfriend’s Birthday.] The title was way too eye–catching, and Teresa couldn’t help but click on it.
Once Teresa opened the article, she saw photos of Charles and Naomi from all sorts of angles. The two walked side by side, with Charles sometimes smiling down at Naomi, sometimes shielding her. Naomi looked shy, her eyes sparkling with emotion.
There were also videos showing Charles buying loads of stuff for Naomi, carrying all the bags himself.
Under the headline, the comments section was blowing up with jealous fans.
[Oh my god, this is way too sweet. If I could be spoiled by a rich guy like that, I must be the luckiest woman in the world.]
[How can I meet a man like this?]
[Hey, big boss, I’m pretty cute too–notice me,]
[Rich people really do just shower their lovers with gifts. I’m so jealous. If any guy treated me like that, I’d give him everything.}
Besides all those photos and videos, there were even some moving pictures, with a sky full of fireworks in the background.
When the fireworks burst in the air, they lit up the sky with the words: [Naomi, happy birthday. From now on, you’ll always have me.]
Charles and Naomi stood beneath the fireworks, both tilting their faces up to watch the brilliant colors. Even from the back, they looked like they were made for each other.
[Oh my god, look at all those fireworks. They must’ve gone on forever.]
[I heard they lasted for half an hour, and every single one had a different scene.]
[Seriously? That must’ve cost over a hundred million.]
[Nah, my family’s in the fireworks business. For that many, it’s probably just 3 million tops.]
[3 million? Rich people really do spend a lot. Just the fireworks alone would take me a lifetime to earn.]
As Teresa scrolled through the news, she suddenly realized why Charles hadn’t come back to Joyacre Villa.
Even when he was swamped with work, he was always wherever Yolanda was.

But tonight, Yolanda was home, and he wasn’t. ‘So he really did have something big going on,‘ Teresa thought.
But Teresa never would’ve imagined that the big thing was throwing a birthday party for Naomi. Just for that, he actually left Yolanda home alone.
As Teresa thought about it, a wave of bitterness washed over her. But then she couldn’t help but imagine, ‘Maybe right now, Charles and Naomi are having a wild night in bed.
‘It’d be a shame not to go all the way on a night like this.‘
The more Teresa dwelled on it, the more her eyes grew red, and before she knew it, she was quietly sobbing.
Yolanda was woken up by Teresa’s sobs. She rolled over and mumbled, “Mom, can you stop scrolling on your phone in the middle of the night? It’s keeping me awake.”
Hearing this, Teresa locked her phone and murmured quietly, “Yeah, I’ll go to sleep in the guest room.”
Yolanda rolled over again and went back to sleep. not even catching what Teresa said.
Teresa sat up in bed, her gaze lingering on Yolanda’s back for a long time.
Thinking about how Yolanda had said last night that Charles was just working overtime, Teresa couldn’t help but feel it was almost laughable

Yolanda’s priorities were instantly laid bare in Teresa’s eyes. Finally, Teresa got up and left Yolanda’s roo
room.
In the guest room, Teresa couldn’t sleep at all. She spent the whole night scrolling through her phone, with news about Charles and Naomi flooding her feed.
As dawn broke, Teresa was wide awake. She decided to get up and make breakfast for Yolanda. She cooked some soup and made a few
pies.
Once everything was ready, Teresa went upstairs to wake Yolanda up and tell her to wash up. After they finished washing up, the two of them went downstairs together.
As soon as they reached the dining room, Sharon’s voice rang out from the doorway. “Good morning, Mr. Logan, Ms. Yates.”
Teresa froze for a second, but when she looked over, she saw a picture–perfect couple walking in through the morning light,
Naomi must have spotted Teresa too, because she let go of Charles’s arm just before they stepped inside.
Teresa didn’t shy away, just watched them walk in. Charles looked great, a faint smile on his face, while Naomi’s cheeks were flushed, like she was still glowing from the night before.
Teresa’s eyes dropped to Naomi’s arm, where she noticed an emerald bracelet. It was crystal–clear and lustrous, and it looked expensive.
Once Charles walked in, he didn’t even spare Teresa a glance. Instead, he turned to Sharon and said, “Make some soup this afternoon. Naomi had a rough night and needs to recover.”
Sharon’s face went pale, but with Charles’s order, she could only say, “Yes, Mr. Logan.”
Teresa was no stranger to this kind of thing. Just one look at Charles and Naomi, and she could tell right away what must’ve gone down between them last night.
With a night like that, honestly, it was pretty much inevitable that something would happen.
When Yolanda saw Naomi return, she instinctively tried to pull away from Teresa’s grip, but Teresa held on tight, and Yolanda couldn’t get free.
But Yolanda didn’t make a fuss. Instead, she grinned at Charles and said, “Dad, you must be exhausted from working overtime. Take a good rest, okay? Mom will take me to school today.”
Hearing this, Charles walked over and gently patted Yolanda’s head. “Good girl, Yolanda.”
Yolanda nuzzled into his palm and said, “Dad, I’ll always be good.”
Then she turned to Teresa and said, “Mom, let’s eat breakfast.”
Teresa looked down at Yolanda, her heart heavy with bitterness. ‘Is she trying to hide the fact that her dad was with Naomi last night?” Teresa wondered.
“Mom?” Seeing Teresa spacing out, Yolanda shook her arm.
Coming back to herself, Teresa forced a smile and said, “Yeah, let’s eat.”
Yolanda led Teresa over to the dining table and sat down. While her mom was busy ladling out the soup, Yolanda shot a quick kiss at Naomi when no one was looking.
Teresa caught it, but she didn’t
say a word.
When she set the bowl of soup in front of Yolanda, Teresa said, “Eat up*
Yolanda glanced at the plain soup and suddenly lost her appetite. “Mom, don’t we have any side dishes to go with this?”
Teresa didn’t answer. Instead, she looked over at Charles, who was just about to take Naomi’s hand and head upstairs, and called out, “Charles, I need a word with you.”
Charles paused for a second and said. Tu not free today,
Teresa wouldn’t let it go “What about tomonow
