Chapter 72
Yolanda answered the phone, “Not yet. Miss Naomi and I are going to the beach later to watch the stars.”
Charles sat in the living room, lit a cigarette, and said lightly, “Alright, just don’t stay out too late. Get some rest afterward.”
Yolanda murmured, then asked hopefully, “Dad, are you coming? It feels like something’s missing when you’re not here, and Miss Naomi seems a bit down too.”
Charles glanced at Teresa, who was still standing in the bathroom. Remembering that Richard had asked him to stay over, he turned down Yolanda’s invitation. “Not tonight. Next time, I’ll take you and Naomi out myself.”
Yolanda sounded disappointed. “Alright then.”
“Go spend some time with Naomi. I’ll hang up now,” Charles said.
Yolanda lit up at the mention of Naomi. “Okay, I’m heading out then. Dad, if you do ‘come, make sure it’s early.”
“Okay,” Charles responded. After Yolanda hung up, he put his phone away.
Teresa, who had overheard the conversation, felt a pang of disappointment. Not once during the call had Yolanda mentioned her. Her heart ached, but not a single tear fell.
Not wanting anyone to see her weakness, Teresa closed the bathroom door, pretending she just needed the bathroom.
Charles saw it all but kept silent.
Teresa stayed in the bathroom for a bit, waiting until she calmed down before opening the door and stepping out.
When she came out, she saw Charles lying on the bed, already showered. He must’ve used the guest bathroom.
Charles was lying on his side, watching videos on his phone. On the big bed, he was only on one side, deliberately leaving the other half empty, like he was saving it for Teresa.
Teresa saw it, but she couldn’t tell if that’s what he meant. Either way, she wasn’t about to share a bed with him.
Teresa made her way to the sofa, curled up under a blanket, and switched off the lights, leaving only a faint glow in the
room.
Charles frowned when he saw her settle on the sofa, but his pride wouldn’t let him ask her to join him on the bed. So, he chose silence.
Before long, Teresa’s steady breathing filled the room.
Charles initially thought he was imagining it, but when he listened closely, he realized it was real.
The next morning, Teresa woke up to find the bed empty-Charles was nowhere to be seen. She didn’t think much of it, just washed up and headed downstairs.
Spotting Susan busy in the kitchen, Teresa asked offhandedly, “Have you seen Charles?”
Susan paused, then shook her head. “No, Mrs. Logan, I haven’t seen Mr. Logan.”
Teresa nodded without giving it much thought.
It was still early, so she figured she’d have breakfast with Richard at the Logan Manor before heading to work. She plopped

down on the living room sofa and started scrolling through her phone.
Unlike before, she no longer tried to please the Logans.
Susan and the other staff noticed and looked surprised.
As she scrolled, Teresa came across the news. [CEO of Logan Group, Charles Logan, spends midnight under the stars with his wife and daughter-a truly loving family.]
Curious, Teresa tapped in and saw tons of media coverage. There were loads of photos showing Charles, Yolanda, and Naomi sitting together, the whole scene looking warm, sweet, and picture-perfect.
The photos only showed their backs, but Teresa could clearly sense the happiness between Charles and Yolanda.
So, he was with Naomi and Yolanda.
This reality didn’t surprise Teresa at all.
